Plastic Chocolate

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
I would give this more stars if you had 'um!! I've never worked with anything but icing for decorating a cake with, but thought this looked easy enough. Used white chocolate chips and the mixture separated a bit when poured onto the plastic wrap, but that didn't bother me a bit! My daughter wanted a "big sub sandwich" instead of a cake for her 15th birthday, but made her a cake-sub. I used the "Plastic chocolate" to make the pickles, lettuce and tomatoes... WONDERFUL!!! TIP: Instead of using oil or powdered anything to roll this out, I rolled it out between a silicone mat and a piece of parchment paper -NO STICKING! Also, when it started to get a bit sticky from working with it, I wrapped it in plastic and popped it in the frig for a few minutes... Perfection! :-)

Herb Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2006
I'm so excited to find this recipe again... In my family, these are called "Stinky Crackers" and kids & adults love 'um. Try mixing them in a paper grocery sack... it soaks up some of the excess oil - and is fun!

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
Wonderful! Used some of the tips from other reviewers - 1/4 c white, 1/4 c brown sugar, 1/2 vanilla, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, baked at 300 a longer time. I stirred the mixture after 15 minutes, then returned to the oven for another 15, stirred again, and then gave it about 10 more minutes and cooled on the pan. Crispy, sweet and delish!!!!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
This is a yummy frosting... EXCEPT: I followed the directions given precisely and ended up with a cream cheese soup. Added more powdered sugar... and more... and more... until I'd used an entire 2 lb package - And it's STILL soupy! At this moment, there is cream cheese frosting dribbling out from between the layers of a 4-layer red velvet cake on my kitchen table! At least it's tasty!

Ranch Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Lovely flavor! For ease of prep, though, pour everything but the oil in a paper bag, then add oil, roll the top closed and shake shake shake... This mixes everything up really well, and gets rid of any extra oil.

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
I give this recipe a 5 for flavor, but a 3 for ease... NOT exactly easy for someone with no fondant experience. I'll probably make it again, but not for awhile! I had a lot of trouble with the fondant sticking to my counter and should have followed another reader's advice about "greasing" the counter, instead of using powdered sugar. I'll do that next time! I would advise anyone who makes this to make sure you have LOTS of counter space! Oh, and DO NOT roll it too thin!

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
Fabulous! Made a couple modifications (didn't have some of the ingredients) - ketchup in place of tomato paste, a little more honey, molasses & whiskey as I didn't have liquid smoke, and used Creole seasoning in place of chili powder. We'll DEFINITELY make this recipe again!!!!!

Shrimp Scampi III

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2007
Lovely, lovely meal! Didn't remove the garlic, as we're garlic-lovers. Next time, I'll leave out the bread crumbs - soaked up too much of those yummy garlic-butter juices.
