Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
This chili was the best! I replaced the ground turkey with boca crumbles, and replaced one of the cans of tomato soup with a can of rotel and a small can of tomato paste. One of the cans of kidney beans I had were actually chili beans (which I think means they were like Ranch-style beans). I don't know if that made a difference but this chili was so great!! We added fritos and sour cream, and my 7 yr old ate 3 bowls! Not only did she like it, but my husband devoured enough of it on chili dogs that I had to fight for the last of it! The boca crumbles were almost indistinguishable from beef, and in our opinion better than turkey. I will be making this alot to get us thru the cold Minnesota winter, thanks for the great recipe!

Venison Tips and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2006
This recipe couldn't have been easier! I followed the recipe exactly and my 7 year old ate 3 helpings! Venison always sits in our freezer because I am too lazy to do all the weird things people recommend to get rid of the gamey flavor, but this recipe was sooooo easy that I will probably make it again soon. Thanks for the simple easy dinner idea!!

Tarragon Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2006
I didn't have any provolone cheese and for some reason my tarragon is missing (I didn't grow any in my garden), but this was still an easy and awesome tuna salad, I ate it all in one sitting! I can't wait to try it with the provolone and tarragon, thanks for the great recipe!

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2006
I just made this recipe with my two girls, ages 5&7 , and not only was it easy, it was delicious. The girls helped me mix and measure so it was a group effort, and when I asked them what they thought I should say in the review they said "Write that it is so good we almost fainted!". I think that sums it up nicely. Thanks for the great recipe!

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2006
I found this recipe weeks ago and have been afraid to use it since my bread machine is a sort of scary mysterious guest in my house. But, lo and behold, this bread came out perfect. Not just perfect, but better than the ones they sell at my favorite local deli!! I used half whole wheat and half white, followed the recipe exactly, and my girls and I watched in amazment as the pitas ballooned up into billowy testaments to my bread making abilities!!! I almost sprained my ankle running to my cuisinart to make hummus to eat with my *homemade* pita bread. Thanks for the super recipe

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
I am not sure if I have ever had a real pound cake before, but if this is what they taste like I have wasted soo many pound cakeless years!!! This cake is heavenly, and if I can make it right, anyone can!! I am making my second batch right now for my daughter's girl scout potluck. The first time I used a bundt pan and it was flawless, this time I am following other users advice and am using two 9x5 loaf pans. When I make this recipe I feel like Donna Reed!! thank you thank you!!

Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2006
These came out perfectly!! I made a dozen and they were gone in a couple of hours!! (even my husband who is insulted by muffins in general loved them)I followed the recipe exactly, except that I used vanilla soy milk instead of cream since that is what I had on hand, and I added a little bit more milk until the texture seemed right. I was a little worried because of the bad reviews here, but I remembered reading in "The Joy of Coking",that different flours have different properties depending on moisture content and age and how they are stored:some flour will need more milk, and some will need less, so use your best judgement when adding liquid to avoid hard muffins! Thanks for sharing a super recipe!!

Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
These got mixed in my house. They were great if you like boiled chicken, but they weren't like buffalo wings at all. The meat was super tender and the flavor was great, so I gave it five stars, but if you are after buffalo wing type chicken, the crock pot really isn't the way to go.
