Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2014
I really appreciated the reviews that pointed out natural peanut butter doesn't set up as well as "regular". Mine too are delicious but soft, so now I know why :) I think when I make these again (still using natural) I will make sure it's a generous 2 cups super finely crushed graham crumbs. I may try to reduce the butter but as written, this is really the perfect flavor. Thanks so much for sharing!

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2014
This is the most amazing recipe. Not only is it perfect chicken Tikka Masala, but the spice mixture in the first part is delicious! I make up large amounts of it, mix, then store as my go-to curry powder/garam masala/Indian-style seasoning. As you can probably tell I am no expert on the cuisine, but it really works in all of my Indian dishes. I made a few small subs in the recipe (butter not clarified, tomato paste diluted with water for the sauce) but no changes needed for a flawless dish. Thank you so much for sharing, I use this recipe all the time!

Ice Cream Sandwich Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2014
I made this for my mom for mothers day, she loved it. I halved the recipe and fit it in an 8x8 baking dish. I did not top with nuts or any other candy, just the toppings were perfect for us. I'd love to try it with peanuts in the future and try and rip off a DQ Peanut Buster Parfait though :) Thanks so much for sharing.

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2014
Flawless. The thinner sliced the better but even the thick ones, while not as crunchy, are delicious. I did try this once with yellow potatoes and they did not crisp up - the russet/brown potatoes have always turned out for me. I usually slice my potato, put in a small plastic bag with a drizzle of olive oil, then mix and arrange in the microwave. Super fast "cleanup" that way. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hasselback Potatoes

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
Fantastic taste and presentation. I wanted something different with corned beef and cabbage for a St. Patricks Day party and these potatoes stole the show. I omitted the topping and just enjoyed them with fancy coarse salt and butter. The roasted potato slices were so fun to peel off and pop like a chip, my guests polished these potatoes off before anything else. Thanks for sharing!

Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
Too much broth in the sauce for our tastes, even with the thickener it was closer to a thick soup than a stir fry. The flavors were good though. Thanks for sharing.

Suki's Spinach and Feta Pasta

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
This was pretty good. I made it for a vegetarian friend and added a can of rinsed white beans for extra protein, which went really well. I think this amount of feta cheese makes a good creamy dish but then the flavor overwhelmed the fresh veggies in the pasta. For my tastes I would either make this with just tomatoes and the same amount of cheese, or omit the cheese all together and make a lighter sauce to showcase the yummy veggies. I enjoyed trying this recipe, thanks so much for sharing.

Margarita Party Pie

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
No complaints or problems with this delicious pie. This pie did soften quickly but it has a healthy amount of alcohol in it - that's not the recipe's fault, alcohol doesn't freeze like most other ingredients. I followed the recipe exactly and while 2 bowls and the layering was a little putzy, it was gorgeous when I finished. I made no substitutions or changes. I whipped my own cream, used fresh limes and strawberries, and used top shelf alcohol - all were important to the quality and are key in this recipe. Thanks so much for sharing :)

Slammin' Salmon

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2014
Very good recipe but for our tastes it's not quite slammin'. We enjoyed tying this and had a great dinner, thanks very much for sharing :)

Lobster Colorado

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2014
I followed this recipe for Valentines Day filets this year, and they were outstanding. I have never cooked steak indoors (always grilled outside), and this recipe gave me perfect results. I did substitute the lobster and browned butter for shrimp in a scampi butter sauce. No changes to the filets though, thanks very much for sharing :)

Linguine Pasta with Shrimp and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2014
Great shrimp pasta recipe. I came across this recipe looking for a fresh veggie-heavy sauce with white wine for some shrimp and produce I picked up on special. I had about 7 cups chopped tomatoes, zucchini and mushrooms so I doubled the wine and butter and used my full 2lbs shrimp. I still used just a pound of pasta and would not have wanted it drier: definitely halve the pasta amount. I added about a half cup of the pasta cooking liquid with the butter which helped thicken the sauce. Lastly I can't bring myself to dirty a pan just to cook the shrimp that will end up in the saucepan anyways. I added mine to the sauce after stirring in the butter with the seasoning (I used extra cayenne not cajun mix) and it cooked up fine. I had no issues with the sauce being sweet, I agree with comments you should make sure to use a good dry white wine. Thanks so much for submitting this recipe, the rich wine and butter with fresh produce was very satisfying :)

Water Chestnuts Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
Very good recipe, but if you marinate as long as the recipe states the chestnuts will be much, much too salty. I will make this again BUT marinate no longer than probably 4 hours. Thanks very much for sharing :)

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
Flawless. I had big Christmas season baking plans but when working overtime shot those plans down, these candies came to the rescue! I like to drizzle with the melted white candy coating, not very turtle-y but I like the extra layer of flavor and prettiness it adds. I've already passed on the recipe several times. Thanks so much for sharing!

Beef Tips and Noodles

I haven't been this excited about a new recipe in awhile - we absolutely loved it! Yes this is salty, but the gravy is so good and easy. My cubed rump roast was wonderfully tender baking this way. I'm really excited about using this recipe for potlucks or parties. Thanks so much for sharing!

Sausage and Lentils

I think as written the recipe is a little bland for most tastes. We added extra salt and some cayenne pepper seasoning to give it a flavor and it was pretty good. Thanks very much for sharing.

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
I see I am way, way out in the minority here but we really didn't like these. The cream cheese was too much for stuffed mushrooms, it was like I crammed a dip into a mushroom cap and warmed it. I saw another reviewer also in the minority mention they preferred bread-y stuffed mushrooms: that must be it, I've eaten these in lots of restaurants and never have I been less impressed than these I took the time to make. I think I must like when seasoned breadcrumbs soak up the moisture from the sauteed mushroom pieces and caps and make a filling. I guess I'll look for other recipes and go from there. Thanks for sharing though, I can tell these are well-liked so I went with 2 stars.

Peanut Buttery Butterfinger Bar

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
FLAWLESS. I made these for Thanksgiving and everyone absolutely raved about them. I made just as directed: butter, 10 chopped fun-size bars (I think that's about the same amount? I don't buy the bites) and natural creamy peanut butter. Very sweet but oh-so-good. I don't see how anyone could have a problem with these bars but I am the first review: hopefully these stay five-star because they really did blow my family away with the peanut-chocolately simplicity. Thanks so much for sharing!

Pasta with Italian Sausage and Pumpkin Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
This was a change of pace for us but not something we will repeat. The sauce was OK but we needed something else/more than cinnamon and nutmeg to flavor it. I did like the pumpkin added, it made the creaminess nicely complex. Thanks for sharing.
