Easy Biscuit Mixture

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
I was SO happy with the way this recipe turned out. For some reason I'd been having so much trouble with my biscuits. They just never came out right. This are so easy and come out light and fluffy. They look and taste wonderful. I always use buttermilk. That's for a great and time-saving recipe.

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
The taste of these biscuits is great! For some reason I've been having problems with my biscuits lately and was looking for a new recipe. The only thing wrong with these is that 2/3 cup of milk is way too much. I made three batches, baked them for seven minutes to freeze and use later (love doing this) and in the last batch I cut the milk back to half a cup. That was just right! All in all, I was really happy with this.

Chicken and Pasta in a Mango Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
For me, the key to this recipe is making it a day ahead. A recipe has to be really good for me to consider it a keeper, considering how many great recipes there are. On day one I wasn't so sure, even though my husband liked it. After eating left-overs on day two I decided it is a keeper. All the flavors seemed to blend together so much better. The onion was really sweet and the sauce really creamy and yummy. Very nice!!!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
I have always used my grandma's recipe for stuffing because it was the best I'd ever eaten. I assumed this stuffing would taste pretty much the same because it had the same basic ingredients. Well, I was wrong!! This stuffing was way better than grandma's (sorry, Grandma). This was even using store-brand stuffing mix instead of homemade cornbread mixed with sliced bread like grandma used. It was so moist and the flavor was outstanding. I left out the mushrooms since my husband doesn't like them. Even he thought it was fantastic!! This recipe has made me fall in love with my slow cooker again! Thanks, Gayle!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
I loved these cookies. They had the great flavor of regular peanut butter cookies but I liked the texture of these more. They had a nice, chewy texture that I love in cookies. Very good.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
I'm looking for some new things to make for our Christmas Eve gathering and thought these sounded good and saw the high ratings. Although they are pretty good I don't think they will be on the menu. I think they would be better with another kind of crust. The biscuits puffed up even though I went back and pressed them down several times before putting in the filling. That made the crust seem too thick. They are pretty good but won't make my list of favorites.

Nacho Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
Although my husband liked this soup, I did not and I'm a soup lover. It just tasted like liquid boxed potatoes with a little heat (chilies) to me. Although I felt like I cooked it to death, the potatoes never got tender. Sorry.

Gourmet Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2006
We are not wild about chicken pizza (we're beef eaters) but this pizza sounded so good I had to try it and it was very good~if you like chicken pizza. I added garlic and also since I had some leftover pesto, I mixed about 3 rounded tablespoons into the ranch dressing. The combination was very good! Overall this is a pretty good dish.

Creamy Pesto Shrimp

Reviewed: May 18, 2006
There is no way 5 stars is enough for this recipe! Ten stars wouldn't do it justice. This is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. I can't stop thinking about it and I made it almost a week ago. So, so good!

Lasagna Alfredo

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
We liked this dish. I made a few changes though~to the alfredo sauce I added some garlic, onion and onion powder. It really needs this or it would be very bland. Also I put salt and pepper on top as the recipe said. Next time I will mix this in. As I was assembling the dish, I realized I hadn't cooked enough noodles so I only added two layers and I'm glad that happened. With only two of us eating, it made a smaller dish (I had already halved the recipe). Next time I think I will add a little more spinach.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2006
I wanted to try these since I'm a big sweet potato fan. They were okay but if I make them again I don't think I'll mash the beans as much so the burritos will have more "body". Also I might increase the amount of beans or lessen the amount of sweet potato. My husband took the leftovers for lunch the next day. He said without sour cream they would have been way too sweet. I liked the fact that they were very nutritious.

Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
Soup is one of my favorite comfort foods and this is a good one. I add chopped zucchini to get in more vegetables. The dill gives this creamy soup such a nice flavor. It's even better the next day.

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
This is my family's favorite soup~hands down. I make it often. It is time-consuming to make all at once so sometimes I prepare the vegetables a day ahead and refrigerate them until needed. I also use frozen hashbrowns in place of the potatoes, to save time and because they are the perfect size. This soup is wonderful!!

Tuscan Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2006
Surprisingly my husband liked this soup much better than I did. I can't say exactly why I was disappointed in it because it wasn't really bad, it just didn't make my list of favorite soups. I cut the amount of broth in half and I'm glad I did or it would have been much too soupy. I doubt I will make it again.

Onion Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
My husband would really prefer that I didn't try new recipes and stick with what I know he likes but since finding this site I've tried many new dishes. This was one he liked. I cut the pepper back to 1/4 of a teaspoon as some suggested but next time I'll do 1/2. Also it needed a little salt. I may work on it a little more but basically it was very good and a nice change from plain rice.

Cranberry Hootycreeks

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2005
Okay, I realize I'm in the minority but I was really disappointed in this recipe. I love cranberries and thought this would have that nice little tang but they were so-so at best. I make a cherry cookie that is similar to this but much more flavorful. I'm sure they look pretty in a gift jar but I just wanted to make the cookie since it got such great reviews. Sorry but this one is not a keeper for me.

Li'l Cheddar Meat Loaves

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2005
I have been using this recipe for several years and it is THE BEST meatloaf I've ever made. Very moist and the topping gives the little loaves a great flavor. Besides, they look really cute! I'll never replace this one.

I'm sorry but I just didn't go for this recipe. The cucumber dressing sounded so good but it just wasn't what I had hoped for. Nothing special.

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2005
I love homemade soup in the cold weather months and am always on the lookout for something different. The peanut butter in this caught my eye. I made it tonight and at first was skeptical. It made a HUGE pot full of soup and I was afraid I had wasted a lot of ingredients. Was I wrong! What an unusual and wonderful flavor! And it looked so pretty and colorful. I may wish I had given 5 stars when we eat the leftovers tomorrow. Thank you for a great recipe!
