Yam and Apple Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This recipe is great, my whole family loves it! I leave out the butter; I've made it both with and without the butter and think it tastes just fine without it, and of course, its healthier this way. I also leave out the allspice. The apple 'gravy' really makes this dish a hit.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
These were AMAZING! Instead of the white cake mix, I used my own favorite (chocolate) scratch cake recipe- more work, but worth the effort! I did find them a little difficult to bake... if the cake batter was fully cooked the cookie inside got baked, even after freezing them, and if I took it out earlier, the whole bottom of the cupcake was raw. That being said, they were still unbelievable. They were all gobbled up (both the under and over cooked ones) in literaly a matter of minutes. I will be making these often. Maybe I will try to freeze the cookie dough longer.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

I have made this recipe a bunch of times now, and it always gets rave reviews. I have been asked for the recipe several times too. I follow the recipe exactly, but instead of frying them, I just stick them on a pan, drizzle with some oil and bake them in my oven... soooo delicious!

Chocolate Mousse Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
OK, first my changes: I did not use the cake recipe provided, as I saw some comments about it being dry etc. Instead I used my traditional go-to chocolate cake recipe (can be found on this website as Vegan Chocolate Cake) and halved it. The result was a little thick, but soooo moist. I also substituted margarine for the butter, which I was nervous about, and I only had around 1 cup of whipping cream. And I used the chocolate chips that I had lying around, nothing high quality. And the results... delicious! I made it for a dinner party that we were having and my guests were completely blown away. They did not believe that it was home made. It probably would have been better with a higher qualty chocolate, but the combination of cake and mousse was really divine. I didn't have the time to make the ganache, so I just shaved some white chocolate onto the center. It was great!!! Also, I did not have time to leave it in the fridge for 2 whole days, it was n probably for like 18 hrs, and it definitely would have been better having set for the full time, it lacked the firmness that restaurant cakes have. But none of my guests seemed to mind the creaminess, it got rave reviews!!! Will be making again!!!

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This is a great recipe, not only because of how great it tastes, but how easy it is. I make the yellow cake, and it turns out fantastic every time. I do substitute oil for the shortening, because I usually try to avoid shortening if I can. I have also substituted water for the milk when looking to make a non-dairy cake, and it still turned out great. Overall, a simple, delicious recipe. Thanks!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
These are really exceptional, and I love that I didn't have to change a thing. Although for myself I prefer one of the 'lighter' cookie recipes from this site, everyone who tastes these are amazed. If you can ignore the calories, these are a sure bet!

The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2006
These cookies came out great! I'm not personally a huge fan of chewy chocholate chip cookies, but even I thought they were delicious. My husband and guests really, really enjoyed them and kept complimenting them. I was running low on flour, so I used 1/2 cup of whole-wheat flour and they still came out terrific. Thanks!
