I'm a full-time student (getting my degree in elementary education) two days out of the week, then a stay-at-home mom to my two boys the rest of the week. I'm also an artist and run my own portrait drawing business on the side. I view cooking as just another extention of my artistry.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking foods from all regions of the world...French, Japanese, Mexican, Indian, Italian, Chinese...you name it. I also love to bake and in recent years I've gotten really into cake docorating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother on my father's side has passed down a lot of her recipes to me. Her style of cooking is very much comfort food types of food. She has taught me how to make amazing fried chicken, the best chicken and dumplings in the world, and awesome mashed potatoes. I hope to pass down these recipes to my boys.
My cooking triumphs
I think the mere fact that I was raised by a single father who couldn't/can't cook and have taught myself (with a few tips from my grandma) how to cook is a triumph in and of itself.
My cooking tragedies
Wow...I think the Fry Bread Taco insident I had today tops all of my previous tragedies. Look under my Fry Bread Taco review for the details...but seeing the fire department was involved...you know it wasn't pretty...
