Vinaigrette

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
The flavor was good, but the densities of the olive oil and red wine vinegar were too different, so they never combined. I kept getting a bite of olive oil, then a bite of vinegar. But, it was tasty.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
The enchilada filling was outstanding!!! But, make sure you use a good enchilada sauce, otherwise it will overpower the delicate chicken flavors. All in all, a great dish! UPDATE: I made just the filling (without the sour cream/cream of chicken soup/chili powder) for burritos, and they were AMAZING!!! Quick way to get the great flavor of this dish without having to go through all the steps of enchiladas.

Tex-Mex Burger with Cajun Mayo

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
I liked this, but my husband thought it was out of this world. The pepperjack goes well with the cajun mayo, but I think I might have used a more "tex-mex" seasonings in the burgers themselves instead of the cajun.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
I used black beans, and they were good, but the flavor of the jalapeno and onion didn't come through as much as I would have liked.

Butter Crescents

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
These are so delicious that I'm ignoring the stick of butter. They're perfect the day you make them, but then get a little hard the next day and don't reheat too well. I don't mind since there usually aren't leftovers anyway :)

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: May 4, 2009
This was very good, but I used much less salt, and doubled the ricotta mixture. Also added a splash of red wine to the sauce. Instead of using a 13X9, I made this in two 8X8s for two meals.

Italian Confetti Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
I don't know if I would make this again. The dressing was very mayo-y, not a lot of other flavors in there.

Pancakes I

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
With some vanilla and blueberries this was 4*, as written it was a little too bland.

Pizza Crust I

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
This had a great pizza-parlor type texture, not too thick or too thin. But, it was a little bland. I will definitely make this again, but add a little more sugar or some spices. Very good, though.

This tasted pretty basic, but was still vey good. I'll use it as a base again!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
This was SO good. Perfectly seasoned and delicious! I used beef broth instead of water, and didn't have any onion salt, so I left that out. I cooked on high for 2 hours, then on low for about 7...I shredded the meat and let it soak in the juices for about 3 hours before serving. Even though I only had a 2.5 lb roast, I kept the seasonings the same. This was awesome served on homemade French Rolls. Next time I'll serve with peppers and melted cheese. Thank you!

I probably wouldn't make these again. Not sure what I was expecting, but they weren't our favorite.

Blueberry Oat Waffles

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
This was good, although I was hoping that the blueberries would have added a little more sweetness. I opted to not use the nuts, not a big fan of nuts in my baked goods...We added about 1 tsp vanilla, and that made them better in my opinion.

White Bean 'n' Ham Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
This was a good and very easy recipe. I only used one can of beans and kept them whole, then thickened the soup with instant potato flakes. That added some extra flavor, but it was still a little bland. I ended up using 1/2 water and 1/2 chicken broth, and had to add some spices. But, this is a good springboard for a tasty soup.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
What delicious, soft, chewy cookies! I wouldn't change a thing. However, I made my cookies a little bigger, so they were very chewy, and the recipe only yielded 2 dozen instead of the said 4. Wonderful recipe, thank you!

Maple Dill Carrots

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
These were really good. The dill was more subtle than I thought it would be, and the brown sugar/butter added a nice hint of sweetness. I imagine you could successfully make carrots like this with any herb of your choice.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
This was delicious! But I give it 4 stars as written, because I think it would have been too sweet and too creamy for our tastes. I added an extra 1 C of pasta to absorb all that dressing (though I used mayo), and used only 1/4 C of sugar. Simply divine! And, I bet it will be even better tomorrow!

Dishpan Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
My cookies tasted awesome...but they spread and flattened really bad. I figured out this was because my butter was not completely softened before I used it...I have since made another batch with very softened butter, and didn't have that problem...Also, I used Rice Krispies instead of Cornflakes. I can't stop eating these cookies!!!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
I loved the ease of this dish, and the fact that it's a one pot meal. Good flavor, although next time I would add some more spices for extra flavor. It was still a pretty good dish, and a great weeknight go-to.
