Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2007
Wonderful!!! I use a mixture of granny smith apples and gala apples. They are great with porkchops for dinner or breakfast. Another thing we like this recipe for is dessert. Just cook the apple chunks enough to where they are soft and warm, but don't mash them. Instead, serve them in their sauce in chunks over vanilla ice cream. Yum!

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
This was good and I will make it again, but in my opinion, 3 TBS chili powder plus 16 oz. of salsa is WAY too spicy. I used the salsa and only 1 TBS chili powder, and it still had quite a zip to it. I used some leftover rotisserie chicken and threw everything in the crock pot on Low for 8 hours. Next time we will add tortilla chips and make it like a chicken tortilla soup.

To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2007
The flavor is definitely restaurant quality. We loved it! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because I could not get it to thicken despite adding extra cheese. I will certainly make this again, but try to figure out how to make it a little thicker.

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2007
This was a really good salad, but the dressing came out a little too sweet. I would probably decrease the brown sugar a little bit. In addition, I used leftover teriyaki chicken, which I think gave it more of an asian salad taste than regular grilled chicken would have. But, my husband is a salad lover, and he enjoyed this one.

Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
This was a very good salad. However, next time I would either add Craisins or skip the cranberries altogether because they made it a little too sour. Also, I think a vinaigrette type dressing would have been better than the ranch. But, we really liked it, and the chicken came out very good. Also, we added candied walnuts and those really improved the salad as well.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
I browned the meat and then threw everything in the crock pot (although it didn't quite fit) and it was a good dinner. But, it was AMAZING when we reheated it the next day. I will definitely be making this again, and try making it the day before, as others have suggested, since it really does enhance the flavor. UPDATE----I just made this again, and used steak instead of the ground beef. Yum! Makes it very gourmet tasting.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2007
This was SO good! I cooked it at 325 for, oh, about 3 hours or so. The meat was so tender and moist and the skin was so good and crunchy. Plus, the two chickens made enough for a few meals. I am making chicken noodle soup tomorrow with the rest of the meat. Thanks for a great recipe!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
This was pretty good, but we thought there were too many onions. But, we would try this again with less onion.

Corn Pudding V

This was pretty good. I added an egg to ensure moistness, and cooked for about an hour at 350. Will probably make again.

Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2007
This was okay--tasted like chicken cacciatore, but didn't have the kind of flavor I was hoping for. Although, it is a very quick meal that is easy to prepare.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
This is a great soup! I usually double the recipe, and it turns out perfectly. It tastes even better the second day. Cooking it a day ahead is also an advantage for the health conscious, in that you can skim off the top layer of fat. But, this is one of our favorite soups, nothing is really necessary to improve it.

Pesto Cheesy Chicken Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
Pretty good, though the mozzarella cheese became a little too hard and rubbery. But, it was a very quick weeknight meal. Next time I would put the cheese on halfway through cooking instead of beforehand.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
Pretty good, tasted like a chicken noodle soup with a heavier texture. But it was a tad too salty for my tastes. Next time I would either cut back on the salt or use low sodium chicken broth.

Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

I turned these into sandwiches, and we enjoyed them. I was hoping the flavors would be a little stronger, but it was still really good.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
I have been meaning to make these scones for a while. I finally got to them this morning, and the flavor is excellent! Reminds me of a trip to Ireland, and all the yummy scones there! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars, though, is because they were kind of crumbly and wouldn't stay together after baked. I will definitely be making these, again, though.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2006
The flavor was great--well what I was able to save of it. The outside was burnt while the middle was raw. Perhaps it is my oven or the size of loaf pan, but I will be trying this one again, because I was impressed with the flavor and look forward to homemade banana bread!

I wasn't too thrilled with this. The chicken and sauce were kind of bland.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2006
This would have been awesome if it hadn't burned so easily. That is one of the challenges with corn syrup. But, the next time I make this, I would probably do what another reviewer suggested and just let the caramel mixture dry onto the popcorn without baking it.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
Delicious! My husband said that this is something you would find at a restaurant. I added some crushed red pepper flakes and red wine to the meat sauce. I also used some plain tomato sauce to spread over the bottom of the pan to keep the noodles from drying out and doubled up the number of noodles per layer. This will be a favorite!
