Jerky Lover's Jerky - Sweet, Hot and Spicy!

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
Yum! this was very good, just the right level of sweet. i did omit the hotter spices because i don't always do well with smoldering food.

Monkey Bread IV

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
My daughter and i just made this (she's 10). It came out so yummy! I settled on this recipe because i didn't have any chopped nuts but had all the other ingredients.... i also liked that it called for more than just cinnamon and sugar, the nutmeg made this doughnut-like in just the right way. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Custard Pie III

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
Good pie! I did change things up a bit. I used 2/3 cup of sugar, 4 jumbo eggs and added nutmeg instead of just cinnamon. I may use a bit less sugar next time still, it is good. i like the fact that i could taste the egg a bit, but it wasn't overpowering. I will make this again with these slight adjustments.

Banana Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
Yum! I just made these. I doubled the recipe, subbed 1/2 the shortening with butter and the other 1/2 with cinnamon apple sauce, did 1C white sugar and 1C brown and in addition to the cinnamon i added another teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, i used old fashioned oats instead of quick cook. i also baked it in heart shaped muffin pans. this would be even better with pecans or walnuts in it. Thank you for the base recipe, this came out wonderfully!

Basic Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
Quick, basic and delicious- so i'm told... I'm a low-carber but i love to cook even if i don't always get to eat it. This recipe (without alterations) was enthusiastically rated *very good* by the rest of my family. I found it very easy to work with and uncomplicated. I did let it rest on the counter in clingwrap for about an hour or so before rolling it. I had no trouble with running it through my hand-crank Atlas. I will make this again, soon. Thank you.

Chocolate Pudding Cake IV

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
this is really good! i cooked mine in the crock pot, i have a large, oval Rival. It took less than the suggested 6 hours- more like 4.5 hours then it began to smell like it was beginning to scorch, so watch yours the first time you make this cause i'm sure every pot is different. i didn't use the chocolate chips and i made it with low fat sour cream, and i had to use 2 smaller pudding packages (1.7 oz each) because the suggested size was not available to me. not sure if that made any real difference, but we enjoyed how gooey and fluffy this cake turned out, spoonable but not too sweet (it is not like eating brownie batter). i will make this again! Thank You :)

Good 100% Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
quite good- even though my bread machine decided to go on strike. i'd say this recipe is "foolproof" but after reading some 'expert' reviews, i'd have to retract that, lol. i did add a touch more flour due to uncharacteristic high humidity in my area and i did add 1/4 C of VWG . i think next time i might add a pinch more salt and an extra generous squeeze of honey because this bread was just a bit bland. all in all, its a perfectly fine recipe and a good base recipe for tinkering with.

Slow Cooker German-Style Pork Roast with Sauerkraut and Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
Mine came out a little on the bland side. i used double the sauerkraut cause i love the stuff. maybe i should have doubled the salt, pepper, garlic and caraway seeds as well. the meat was nice and tender, so i will try it again. thank you!
