Strawberry/Rhubarb Crumb Pie

Reviewed: May 26, 2007
I used both frozen rhubarb and strawberries; I thawed them before mixing them into everything else (it only took about 20 minutes to thaw). It came out tasting excellent, but I somehow got too much filling in the crust so it bubbled over. It would have been the perfect amount in a deep-dish pie crust. The mess was worth it! This was my first attempt at making a pie from scratch and I loved it...thanks.

Soy Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
So good! I usually don't eat brown meat, but I found some thighs on sale so decided to give them a shot. This recipe hit the spot perfectly. DH loved it, too. We ate it with a side of baked sweet potatoes and cornbread - seemingly strange combination, but it went together rather well.

Quick Chili I

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
This turns out great! I tweak it a bit, though, because I think it turns out too soupy just the way it's written here. I add 1/2 of a sweet red pepper, chopped, and 1/2 of a bell pepper (whatever color I have on hand), chopped. I omit the water altogether. I drain the beans a bit and use black beans instead of pinto beans for color and a stronger flavor. Instead of fresh garlic, I use 3/8 tsp. garlic powder. I only use about 1 tsp. of sea salt. I also use 1 tsp. red pepper flakes in place of the hot pepper sauce. This is a great recipe for rainy weather! Thanks. =o)

Darn Good Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
This is a very good base recipe! I added some chopped sweet yellow and red peppers and one more can of beans. I also cooked this all in a crockpot...cooking the peppers and hamburger together in a pan before adding to the mix. Thank you very much!

Crispy Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
These were THE BEST homemade butter cookies I have ever tasted! I gave these as gifts this Christmas and they were a hit. There were only two things I changed: the baking temperature and the baking time. They took way too long on 350, so I changed the oven to 375 and baked them for about 20 minutes. These were total melt-in-your-mouth goodness! Thanks.

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
I tweaked the recipe to meet our needs, but the chicken turned out perfectly tender and crispy (thanks for the clue about halving the chicken breasts - they didn't cook unevenly this way). I used crushed Club crackers and 3 tsp. of Wildtree Garlic and Herb blend along with 1/2 tsp. of salt (this particular Wildtree blend doesn't include any salt). Put all of the dry ingredients in a large, plastic Ziploc bag, dipped each piece of chicken in the eggs, dropped the chicken in the bag, and shook to my heart's content. Thanks for this recipe!

Parmesan Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
I didn't like this recipe at all. There was a true lack of flavor, even after trying to boost it a bit with extra garlic and some sauteed onions

Avocado Mango Salsa

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
Wonderful! I didn't have a habanero pepper, but I did have a jalapeno so I used that instead. I thought it was going to be really spicy, but the avocado cut the heat. I tasted this without the avocado and it didn't taste right (and it was extremely spicy)- the avocado definitely makes this salsa! I also used lemon juice instead of lime. I added a bunch more cilantro than called for in the recipe. I even added a pinch of sugar because our mango was a bit on the tart side. I put the salsa over baked chicken and my husband and I also ate it with "Hint of Lime" tortilla chips. YUMMY! Thanks for sharing.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
Best. Frosting. EVER! This truly is epic frosting. I made Jell-o poke cupcakes in a variety of flavors for Easter and decided on trying this frosting since half of my family loves whipped cream frosting and the other loves cream cheese frosting (and I needed something sturdy enough to hold up for a 45 minute drive). This frosting not only made the drive, but it got RAVE reviews! We ended up having enough to frost some of my sister's sugar cookies and it was delicious on those as well. I don't want to forget to mention how great this tastes on fresh fruit, too! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I will use this frosting for the rest of my life! One tip: Unless you have clear vanilla extract for this recipe, plan on at least tinting your frosting a little bit to offset the brownish tint that comes from regular vanilla extract. Enjoy!

One Dish Chicken and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
I added some WildTree onion and garlic blend to this recipe and it tasted great! I did have to bake it for about 20 minutes longer than called for in the recipe - the rice was still crunchy at 45 minutes.

Chex® Muddy Buddies® -- Gluten Free!

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
This is delicious! At my house, we call this Puppy Chow. I took a reviewer's advice and replaced some of the chocolate chips with butterscotch chips. Also, I split this recipe in half because it was just for my hubby and I. Love it - thanks!

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
This was REALLY good with a couple of changes. I added 1 cube of chicken bouillon to the mix, took out the salt and added only 1/2 tsp. pepper, used skim milk (which just added a bit to the cooking time), and substituted the veggie oil with a stick of margarine. I have never been able to make gravy come out right until now. Thank you!

Vegan Bean Taco Filling

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This is the best! I have used this as a filling for make-ahead burritos. Just put a large spoonful of this filling into a taco-sized tortilla, wrap into a burrito, cover with aluminum foil, and freeze in a ziploc baggy. I make these ahead of time and heat them in the microwave when I'm in a hurry for lunches.

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
I used KARLA10's layering suggestion and this turned out very good. I added 1 Tblsp. of Wildtree spaghetti seasoning and one small , chopped onion to the pan of sausage, and also mixed in the 2 jars of spaghetti sauce to help with quicker layering. Instead of ricotta cheese (my family and I don't like ricotta in our lasagna), I put in some low-fat cottage cheese. I added 1 box of organic spinach and some shredded parmesan into the cheese mixture to add in some veggies. This is simply delicious and I am so happy to be able to make this in the crock pot since we will be having 100+ degree weather in my area for the next few weeks. I love my crockpot!

Skillet Beef and Macaroni

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
As-is, this recipe is really good! Instead of a bell pepper, I diced up five mini sweet peppers and added them to the mix. Next time I think I'll add 1 Tbls. of sugar just to help cut down on the acidity. This tastes 10x better than HH.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2011
More chocolatey than velvet cake-like, but really good all the same. They came out very fluffy and beautifully rounded at the top (I followed the recipe exactly). I would suggest chilling the frosting for a little while before attempting to frost the cupcakes. My frosting got a little runny near the end. I made the frosting light green and put bright green-colored coconut on the top of the frosting with Easter-themed M&M's on top of each one to make a bunch of adorable mini garden plots for my Grammy's 93rd birthday. They came out very cute!

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
I used only 1-1/3 cup flour and 1-1/2 cup oats, as noted by other reviewers and the crisp came out really great. I thought it needed a little something, though, so that's why I gave it only 4 stars. Next time, I may add some apple pie spice. Also, I mixed Granny Smith apples with some small Red Delicious apples. The Granny Smiths needed about another 15 minutes of cook time to soften up. Other than that, it came out really good. Thanks!

Applesauce Cake VI

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
This is wonderful! I had a jar of applesauce that needed used up, so I thought I would try out this recipe. I took other users' suggestions and substituted 1/2 cup of the vegetable oil for an extra 1/2 cup of applesauce. I also added 1/2 tsp. of ground cloves to jazz it up a bit. Next time I'm going to try it out with dried cranberries! To top off this wonderful cake, I whipped up a batch of the Caramel Frosting IV (found here) and my hubby and I thought we were tasting a bit of Heaven. Thank you so much!
