Chocolate Oil Cake
About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I'm currently trying to collect and try out more authentic Mexican recipes. I'm hoping to surprise my husband with a great Mexican dinner one day for our date night!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love baking Easter cookies with my dad and making Christmas dinner with the whole family.
My cooking triumphs
I got the best BBQ chicken recipe fron this site that came out excellent. My husband doesn't usually like BBQ chicken, but he cleaned his plate on this triumph!
My cooking tragedies
I remember trying to bake a chocolate cake for my husband on his birthday. Everything seemed to be fine until I started to decorate the cake. All of a sudden, as I began to frost the cake, it caved in! My husband was flattered at my attempt and the cake still tasted great, but it looked horrible! From then on, I vowed to only spruce up box cake mixes.

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire
I cook this every Thanksgiving, especially for my mom. It is delicious with cream cheese on Wheat Thins. Yum! Thank you for sharing this.

Soy Sauce Chicken
So good! I usually don't eat brown meat, but I found some thighs on sale so decided to give them a shot. This recipe hit the spot perfectly. DH loved it, too. We ate it with a side of baked sweet potatoes and cornbread - seemingly strange combination, but it went together rather well.

Famous Butter Chicken
I tweaked the recipe to meet our needs, but the chicken turned out perfectly tender and crispy (thanks for the clue about halving the chicken breasts - they didn't cook unevenly this way). I used crushed Club crackers and 3 tsp. of Wildtree Garlic and Herb blend along with 1/2 tsp. of salt (this particular Wildtree blend doesn't include any salt). Put all of the dry ingredients in a large, plastic Ziploc bag, dipped each piece of chicken in the eggs, dropped the chicken in the bag, and shook to my heart's content. Thanks for this recipe!
