I was looking for a recipe for meringue nest for easter and came across this one. Growing up in the 60s in our town, we had a Woman's Bakery on the main street. I remember buying meringue nest in different colours at easter time for 5 or 10 cents. I wanted my children to have the same experience as me to remember. This recipe worked great. Didn't bother with any flouring, just a little food colouring. Then piped birds nest on the cookie sheet and baked as directed. We finished them off, by putting some tiny easter eggs in them.. so easy and so good... thanks

This recipe is great! I was leary of the whole wheat flour taste coming threw after it was baked. But to my surprise, the kids never even noticed that I used whole wheat flour. I did cut back on the brown sugar to 1 cup packed. It didn't stop the kids from chomping down these cookies. Will diffently make again and again.

I've made alot of apple crisp. But this is the best and the easiest yet. Ive used this recipe many times since coming across it and never lets me down. The syrup really helps to keep this moist and very tasty. If I dont have alot of apples on hand, I will add frozen blueberries, cherries or raspberries. Then it becomes a bumble berry crisp. There is never any left overs of this desert and from that I know that this recipe is a keeper.
