Cajun Spiced Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
Nice flavor. I cut the cayenne pepper in half because I was afraid it would be too spicy for us to eat and it came out pretty good. Just enough heat for me. I'll probably use garlic powder instead of garlic salt next time because it was a little saltier than I like. Good recipe and very quick and easy to put together.

Slow Cooker Cider Pork Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
This recipe was okay. We pretty much followed the directions but we don't have a food processor. I don't know if that really made much of a difference. We felt there was a lot of liquid and would have been better if it was thicker. I probably should have browned the pork longer because the flower coating was just kind of mushy when we pulled it out. The pork was really tender, moist, and had a good flavor. We enjoyed it. I hope others try this recipe and add their comments of how they tweaked it. I'd like to try it again and see where I went wrong.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Tasted awesome and got a lot of compliments from people at two different parties. I heated the refried beans and added the seasoning so it was easier to spread, didn't use lettuce or green peppers, didn't use all the sour cream mixture, added a layer of guacamole, and I split the recipe between two shallow serving trays. Everyone liked the thin layers because you got a taste of everything in one scoop. It is exactly one year later from my original review and this recipe is still being requested at every bbq/party/gathering of any sort that I go to. There are never any leftovers and people I've never met will find me to tell me how much they've enjoyed it. Thank you for this recipe!

Maria's Broccoli Rabe

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
I just made this for pork & broccoli rabe sandwiches and it came out great. For years I have been steaming the broccoli rabe and then would saute it with the garlic, and it would still be pretty bitter. Boiling is definitely the way to go!

Seven Flavor Hamburger

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
Very tasty! I had used some of my leftover homemade gravy (or meat sauce for some), which is very thick, instead of a jar of tomato sauce, so I didn't have to let it simmer for the 20 minutes. I also had to substitute the white vinegar for red wine because I didn't have any on hand. It turned out very good and will definitely be making again.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
We tried recipe as written first, and the result was burnt sugar and inedible. Tried again adding sugar after kernels were coated in oil and ready to pop. Due to electric stove top, we had to let sit a few seconds and shake, sit and shake, sit and shake. After it finished popping, we added a sprinkle of salt. Our end product was quite tasty and would rate 4 stars.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Delicious! I happened to have a bunch of leftovers/ingredients that I needed to use up and it happened to be everything I needed to make this. Except the peas...we don't like peas here, so that was the only thing left out :)

Delicious! There was a lot of bread crumbs and we ended up leaving about two cups out. ****After almost two years, this our favorite fall pork chop recipe!

Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
I'm assuming I messed up somewhere along the way because they were not fluffy or light. They were very flat, but I'm giving the low rating because they were too salty and just not tasty.

Italian-Style Quinoa-Stuffed Sole

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Very bland. It didn't taste bad so that's the reasoning for 2 stars. The only difference we made was to substitute tilapia for the sole because the store didn't have any fresh sole that day. I can see the potential with the quinoa and fish, but I just don't know what I would add to give it flavor. I won't be trying this again.

We made this as a low salt version due to personal preferences and it came out fantastic. So much flavor. The heat was steady and didn't become overpowering. Will definitely make again.

German Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
Totally bumbled this up and forgot to add the brown sugar. d'oh! It tasted good anyway but I didn't care for the smell. It was my first time cooking with sauerkraut and probably my last. Not sure if the brown sugar would have masked that part of it for me. Hubby enjoyed it and will probably make it for himself when I'm out of town.

Penne Pasta with Cannellini Beans and Escarole

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
Quick, tasty, and cheap! 4/15/10 This recipe has been in my regular rotation for the past year or so. I have yet to find escarole in my local stores so I've been substituting with fresh spinach and that works out fine. I've also been adding minced garlic, onions, cut up sausage, and using whole grain pasta and organic diced tomatoes.
