Gary's Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
I made this hosting my first Thanksgiving and it was delicious! I should have scaled the amount of stuffing down because we used the smaller mushrooms, and half of it is sitting in our freezer waiting for another gathering.

Boiled Bagels

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
I've tried this recipe twice and both times I had very flat bagels. The first time I mixed the yeast in the sugar water before adding it to the dry. The bagels were flat by the time they hit the water. The second I followed the recipe exactly and the bagels flattened after they came out of the water. They tasted okay, just super flat!

Had to tweak it to use stuff on hand, but it came out super moist and delicious, and definitely easy!

Super awesome! Very easy and quick to make, and a very forgiving recipe for those sloppy measuring nights.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
I tried using this for chicken wings and it was delicious, reviewers are right that it is too much butter. That's the only reason for four stars. It's definitely five stars with the slight moderation and I can't wait to try this again!

Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
I'm assuming I messed up somewhere along the way because they were not fluffy or light. They were very flat, but I'm giving the low rating because they were too salty and just not tasty.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
We tried recipe as written first, and the result was burnt sugar and inedible. Tried again adding sugar after kernels were coated in oil and ready to pop. Due to electric stove top, we had to let sit a few seconds and shake, sit and shake, sit and shake. After it finished popping, we added a sprinkle of salt. Our end product was quite tasty and would rate 4 stars.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Delicious! I happened to have a bunch of leftovers/ingredients that I needed to use up and it happened to be everything I needed to make this. Except the peas...we don't like peas here, so that was the only thing left out :)

Jambalaya

We made this as a low salt version due to personal preferences and it came out fantastic. So much flavor. The heat was steady and didn't become overpowering. Will definitely make again.

Orzo with Chicken and Artichokes

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Delicious! Hubby asked for chicken and orzo and thought he was going to get a plain and bland dinner. He was pleasantly surprised when I made this recipe for him and has asked for it to be in regular rotation. Only change I made was to make half of the orzo and added some Italian seasoning when I cooked the chicken. Thank you for this recipe!

German Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
Totally bumbled this up and forgot to add the brown sugar. d'oh! It tasted good anyway but I didn't care for the smell. It was my first time cooking with sauerkraut and probably my last. Not sure if the brown sugar would have masked that part of it for me. Hubby enjoyed it and will probably make it for himself when I'm out of town.

Great recipe! I did half brown and half white sugar and it was pretty sweet. Next time I'll leave out a cup of sugar.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Love, Love, Love this recipe! This was exactly the kind of cornbread I was looking for and I was surprised that I already had all the ingredients in the house when the craving hit. It's super easy to make and the only thing different I did was soak the cornmeal in the milk for a few minutes while I was pulling all the other stuff out of the cabinets. Thank you so much for this recipe!

Honey Ginger Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
I cut it down to 1 tsp red pepper flakes because a full tablespoon seemed like a lot to me, and I'm glad I did. Served with quinoa. Will either marinate the shrimp next time, or add the coconut milk to make a sauce as others suggested.

Italian-Style Quinoa-Stuffed Sole

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Very bland. It didn't taste bad so that's the reasoning for 2 stars. The only difference we made was to substitute tilapia for the sole because the store didn't have any fresh sole that day. I can see the potential with the quinoa and fish, but I just don't know what I would add to give it flavor. I won't be trying this again.
