My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes. I love to use the crockpot. The scent of cooking food wafting through the house all day sure makes one enjoy the final outcome!
My favorite family cooking traditions
For birthdays, the birthday person gets to choose the meal; Thanksgiving we have stuffed game hens; Easter and Xmas we have ham, smashed potatoes, candied yams, and fixings. Other traditions still to come!
My cooking triumphs
Kalamata Rosemary Pork Tenderloin was a hit! Served it with Garlic Smashed Potatoes and green beans with bacon. Everyone wanted more! I didn't make enough for THIRD helpings!
My cooking tragedies
Hamburger gravy. For something so easy to make, it sure is hard! Tasted like bland ground beef and flour. YUCK!

Chef John's Mushroom Gravy
I have never been very successful with gravy; however, this one was a great success! Thank you! No more jarred or packaged gravy for my family!

Sun-Dried Tomato Basil Orzo
I enjoy this dish chilled. I don't really care for parmesan cheese, so I omitted it. Made it greek style by adding tomato basil feta cheese and chopped kalamata olives. Served it with pork tenderloin & steamed asparagus.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
I have always wanted to make au gratin potatoes and finally did! After reading a few of the reviews, I did make a few additions. I sprinkled minced garlic, pepper & parsley flakes on top of each potato layer. I followed the directions for the cheese sauce but added fresh grated nutmeg as I do for all my "cream" sauces. This casserole turned out very good! Even picky DH who said he hates au gratin potatoes ate seconds! This is a keeper!
