Princess Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Nice texture but definitely needs the icing to make it taste stronger. The cookies themselves are quite bland.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
I made this with 1c brown sugar and 1c white sugar, and melted half the choc in with the butter, and added 1/2t coffee powder. If you want a fudgy brownie then use 3c sugar. Mine turned out a bit cakey but was still very delicious.

Raisin Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
Cut the shortening by half unless you like flat, crisp cookies. I added and extra cup of rolled oats and an extra cup of flour, and used 3/4 c butter. Add lemon zest if you want a stronger flavour. I'd also substitute dried apricots for the raisins.

Chocolate Cookie Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
Wow! You only need to serve about a square inch to your guests with this one! Rich and delicious. I wouldn't change anything. Just make sure you have a tall cake pan to bake it in so it doesn't spill over the top.

Bee Lian's Rich Orange Cake

It's quite eggy and has too much butter. I don't think I'll make it again.

Banana Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
These are not cookies. They are muffin tops. If you want *very* cakey cookies they're ok. Definitely do the icing and add more spice to the batter- they're bland without.

Carrot Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
I used 2 bananas and 3 small carrots. It slices very well. It's good, but I prefer regular banana bread.

Snickerdoodle Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
I found the cake quite bland, even after adding 1 1/2 t cinnamon to the batter. The cake itself was quite solid, not in a good way.

Spinach Balls

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
I found these quite bland - definitely use sharp cheese and don't be afraid to spice them up a bit more - I'll put in crushed garlic and a heap more herbs next time.

Toffee Bars

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
Mine were hard to spread thin enough - got them down to 1/2" but they should probably go a bit thinner. Definitely use all butter.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
I made this with 2t rosemary and that was plenty. Mine were quite gluey - I did mine by hand and I'll increase the flour about a cup next time.

I tried this and there wasn't nearly enough batter - try with 1 apple and double the mixture.

French Apple Pie with Cream Cheese Topping

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
I found this quite average. It's definitely a cake, not a pie. I had trouble with it being too moist and it was more trouble and not as nice as my usual apple cake.

Cinnamon Chocolate Cake

This is a good cake. I'd cut the butter a bit and up the cinnamon next time. Comes out very soft and tastes like speculaas (sp?).

Playgroup Granola Bars

A good basic bar. I cut the sugar to 1/3 c - probably not sweet enough for kids but sweet enough for me. I was expecting something chewier - these were almost cakey.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
This cake is AMAZING. I used *really* ripe bananas. I made these alterations: Bake at 325 for 1 hr 10 min, use 3 1/4 c flour, cut sugar to 3/4 c of brown, 3/4 c of white, 4 tsp vanilla, add 2 tsp baking powder, 2 tsp cinnamon, cut the lemon juice, add a handful of shredded coconut. I didn't put it in the freezer and it came out MOIST and tasty. Not bread-like at all!
