Sweet Spicy Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2006
These wings are great! I make the sauce first, and simmer the wings in the sauce, basting often for 10-15 minutes, remove from heat, and let sit while coals heat. Because of the high butter content, the sauce will burn when it drips down on the coals, so allow the sauce to drain off the wings as much as possible, and have a spray bottle handy before placing wings on the grill. I baste lightly with the sauce while they are cooking, careful not to let it drip on the coals. The real "Louisiana Hot Sauce" works best, I tried several others .

Rotini with Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2006
Very fast and very good! Like others, I made a few substitutions due to limited cupboard inventory. I used diced tomatoes, made my own chicken tenders by slicing chicken breast, plain Nakano Rice Vinegar instead of Roasted Garlic. It turned out great! The chicken looked a little "pale" at first, but after adding the rice vinegar and keeping it on very high heat, (probably several minutes longer then suggested) it acquired a very appetizing browned color. Will definitely make again. (would also be good with sliced zucchini added with the onions, for those trying to slip undetected vegetables to their family).

German Christmas Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
This turned out very good - and that's saying something because I am not a great cook. I made it exactly as instructed - minus the almonds (none on hand). It is very moist, and made the whole house smell wonderful. I made it in the mini-loaf pans to give in Christmas baskets - baked for 35 minutes, turned out perfect. As a side note - my boyfriend said it was good but thought the orange flavor was too strong and took away from the traditional gingerbread flavor he was expecting.

Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
I never leave reviews, but for this I had to because I'm a terrible cook and this recipe turned out great! I used instant potatoes instead of making my own (the 6-7 cup recipe was not quite enough) but otherwise followed this recipe to the letter. My husband, bless his heart, is a great sport about my futile attempts to cook but does not give false compliments so when he said it was awesome, and then had a second big servings, I knew we had a winner. Thanks for the great "so easy even I can do it right" recipe!

Moist and Savory Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
I needed about 1/4 cup more chicken broth and the sage suggested by earlier reviewer would have been a great touch. Still - it turned out pretty good considering how simple and fast it was.

Cedar Planked Salmon

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
This is AMAZING! Only substitution - I didn't have fresh ginger root so I used ground ginger. I soaked the boards 2+ hours but needed a spray bottle when the corners caught on fire. Still - very little effort for something that is gourmet dinner quality.

Stuffed French Toast II

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
AMAZING! super easy and so good! Next time I'll reduce the almond extract to 1tsp. I only had plain old whole wheat sandwich bread, and it was still wonderful!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2011
Two words: YUMMMMM YUMMMMMM I didn't have the applesauce or other recommended substitutions, so I made exactly as posted. It's perfect, not too dry, not too oily, not too sweet. Just right.
