About this Cook
I love food, wine, being outdoors, pug dogs (all dogs... since I am a dog groomer) and good friends.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking breads of all kinds, soups, cooking with fresh herbs, grilling over wood fire and on charcoal grill. Also love ethnic foods and trying new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love having appetizer parties where good friends come and bring a couple of appetizers and a bottle of wine or beer. Nothing fancy, just laid back, relaxed and fun. We also like to have company over for cookouts.
My cooking tragedies
I was boiling a pot of noodles on an electric stove top when the burner blew a hole in the bottom of my stock pot, throwing the noodles and water all over! Thank goodness I wasn't near the stove at the time!!! (be sure to watch the burner elements for uneven wear from sliding pots and pans!) I now have a gas stove top!

The Best Oatmeal Cookies
Awesome cookies!!! So many oatmeal cookie recipes I have made in the past left a after-taste that was unpleasant, but these didn't at all. Great flavor! I followed the recipe exactly except that I doubled it and also added 1/4 tsp of freshly grated nutmeg. My husband, who is a very picky cookie eater, and my daughter both raved over them. I am taking a batch to work tomorrow. These cookies are chewy and a little crispy around the edges (except that it was hot and humid out today and this made some of the first batches get very soft since I left them out too long. The rest I bagged in zip lock bags as soon as they cooled and they stayed more crisp). I will be baking these often!

Broccoli and Stuffing Casserole
I also (as usual) changed the recipe... I mixed all the ingreidents instead of layering, plus added 1/4 cup of sour cream and 3 oz of cream cheese. I used 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese mixed into all, not on top. And I used frozen brocolli instead of fresh, which saved the step of boiling it first. The moisture was fine, not too wet or dry this way. Everyone loved it and says it's a keeper.
