Black Bean, Barley and Turkey Chili

I only put in half of the liquids that this recipe called for and it was a great texture. Very good with sour cream and shredded pepper jack cheese on top.

Honey Cornbread

I accidentally doubled the sugar called for in this recipe, and it STILL wasn't quite sweet enough or honey-tasting enough for me. When I ate it I poured honey on my piece and then it was good. If you like cornbread really sweet, add more honey or sugar.

Florentine Artichoke Dip

Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe!! The lemon juice and garlic give it great flavor. I served it with tortilla chips and everyone loved it! Also tastes good cold but it's best warm.

Cream Cheese Chicken

This was pretty easy (I didn't include the nuts) and I thought the brown sugar/dijon combination was great. I think the filling needs more flavor. Next time I will try spinach, garlic, cheese, or lemon juice added to it. Overall...very impressive and delicious!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

So easy and perfect for a crowd. On my first batch I made the mistake of tearing the pork apart while it was in the broth and letting it simmer for awhile. It came out with the consistency of wet newspaper. Second batch I did pull it apart until after draining - much better. I got tons of compliments on that one!

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Delicious and attractive! I added sauteed mushrooms and lemon juice to the stuffing. Uncovering the chicken for the last 10 minutes in the oven made the chicken tender but crispier on top. You could easily prepare this the night before and bake the next day.

Mini Cheesecakes III

These are super easy and taste great! I am afraid to make cheesecake because it seems easy to ruin...and maybe I can put it off for a few more years because these are terrific! Like others I made supreme strawberry topping - yum! The graham crust is so yummy. Very good for guests.

Pumpkin Cranberry Bars

These tasted fine, but not spectacular. The main reason I made them was because the picture was so pretty. The layers don't turn out nearly as colorful or distinct as in the picture, and it's very hard to remove from the pan intact. I didn't grease the pan and wish I would have.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

I thought this was delicious. I doubled the spices and took it out of the oven 5 minutes early (usually they are more moist that way). I would try adding applesauce to give it more moisture. I see a lot of reviews that say the molasses taste is too strong. I tasted the cake right after baking and thought so too. But after I left it overnight, the flavor mellowed out and it's perfect! Using a bundt cake pan would probably make it even more attractive. Try it warmed up with whipped cream!

Buttermilk Pancakes II

These were the most amazing pancakes ever! They were so easy and they turned out great - I followed the recipe exactly. My husband just came home from being overseas for a few months, and his one request was that I make pancakes for breakfast. I wanted them to turn out perfect, and these did! This is a large recipe, which I really liked.

These cookies had a terrific texture but not enough flavor for our taste. Maybe it would be better to substitute butter for shortening? Also, usually our oven is hotter than most, but I actually had to bake them over 10 minutes...don't know why that was.

Raspberry Almond Tart

The bottom crust had a great texture, and the almond and raspberry flavors go together really nicely. I thought leaving it overnight in the fridge enhanced the flavor a lot. Also didn't think the lemon-powdered sugar topping was necessary, as it didn't seem to add much flavor and just got messy. Watch it carefully because mine got burnt around the edges when I left it in the oven for 50 minutes.

If you are looking for exciting flavor, this recipe is not for you. It does have a nice mild flavor and tasted good to me. But I think I'll keep looking for a different recipe.

Nutty Apple Crisp

This is a good recipe. As suggested, I doubled the amount of oatmeal, added a teaspoon of cinnamon, and used pecans. To me, this was too tart, but I think a lot of people will love the "sweet and sour" taste combo. I will probably use half as much lemon juice next time.

Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake

This is very attractive and delicious. The combination of the butter and cream cheese make it very soft and moist. There weren't enough pecans to cover the whole cake, so they looked kind of scattered and weird. So I would add more pecans, or skip them all together and just put cinnamon and sugar on top. Also, my pecans burned a little, I think because there's no butter in the topping. I don't really know how to fix that problem. Overall, excellent, and everyone complimented me on how it looked and tasted.

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake

Just like other reviewers have said: melt in your mouth good! This was my first try at finding a classic coffee cake recipe and I am stopping here. I doubled the topping and it was terrific.
