Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2012
This recipe was good, I didn't get to grill it though. I just cooked the pork in the oven, cubed it, and then put it in the pan with the heated sauce. Two teaspoons of cornstarch won't get it very thick, so if you want thicker sauce use more cornstarch or less water. I also used a cheaper cut of pork and this dressed it up.

Teriyaki Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
This recipe was awesome! I made it as written except a tad less sugar and I added some minced garlic. I think it would be good with a bit of honey in it, but I didn't add any this time. Before marinading my steak, I put this teriyaki on the stovetop and added some corn starch so it was nice and thick. Then I added my meat and marinaded for the day. (I left it sit on the counter for about an hour first because I don't like to put piping hot food in the fridge). This tasted delicious, used ingredients I had on hand, and saved me a trip to the store to buy generic bottled marinade. I will use this recipe again and again.

Garlic Asparagus with Lime

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
This recipe was good. I think the lime juice gave it an almost pickled taste, in a good way. I used Kosher salt and lime juice (didn't have a fresh lime) and it worked out well.

Marbled Almond Roca

I didn't think this tasted that good at all. I also think if you do make it, it needs to be kept refrigerated or else it gets really gooey and runny.

I had extra peanut butter chips so I used those instead of a 1/2 cup of actual peanut butter and it worked great.

Ziti with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
This recipe is good; it is basically just spaghetti, which is fine with us. I was looking for a way to doll up Italian turkey sausage; which can taste bland, and this did it, so that was nice. This isn't mind blowing, but it is good. The kids ate it up.

Chicken Primavera

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Nice flavor, but even after doubling the sauce there wasn't enough. It is a nice light meal, but not for people who like sauce heavy pastas. Also, this would be very gland without garlic. But I don't know who would microwave chicken, that doesn't seem right.

Italian Sausage Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Nice flavor but we put a lot of garlic. I used ground turkey sausage, italian flavor, and it worked great. Also, I didn't use a cup of water, I used chicken broth instead. This is a nice recipe that makes a harty dinner. Also, I cooked it in the crock pot.

Smothered Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
This recipe is just okay; not nearly as good as this site's "Aussie Chicken". That is a way better chicken/bacon recipe. This recipe tastes fine, but it needs some kind of sauce like a honey mustard to keep the chicken from tasting too dry.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
This cake as written needed a little work, in my opinion, so I added some brown sugar to both the strussel and the batter and used more cinnamon then called for. Also, I put some of the strussel in the batter and swirled it around with a butter knife, and then put the rest on the top during the last five minutes of baking. Make sure to make a little extra strussel. Without these changes I think the cake tastes too dense and like it has too much flour. These changes will give it a lot of extra flavor.

Garlic Chicken with Orzo Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
This recipe needs a lot of help. It is really bland with no sauce to speak of. Maybe cook the orzo in something other than water (wine, broth). It's a few ingredients away from being enjoyable.

Pork Chalupas

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
I don't really know how to cook beans, so I just used two cans of pinto beans, undrained and they worked fine. I also used one can less green chiles than the recipe called for. These were a nice change from regular tacos, but for the price of a pork shoulder I would have rather done something else with it than this.

Pico de Gallo

This salsa didn't taste very flavorful with chips. It tasted good when it was in our chalupas, but as a stand-alone it is just okay. Not even close to as good as this site's Shrimp Salsa.

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
Surprisingly bland. There really wasn't a lot in terms of taste considering all the spices and the amount of time the pork is in them. Probably won't make again, there are better things to do with pork than this recipe.

Baked Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
We loved these! We omitted the water chesnuts and the green peppers and added yellow onion. Also, we used salad shrimp instead of chicken. I was really skeptical of this recipe but I can't believe how good they turned out. I had to deviate from the cooking time, as mine took a lot longer, but they tasted so good they were well worth the wait. I think adding cabbage would make these great. A piece of advice would be not to put too much stuffing in the egg roll wrapper or it will burst at the seems. Served these with this site's "Chinese Chicken Soup" and we had a wonderful dinner.

Canadian Bacon Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
This was a way for us to not waste a loaf of french bread and we liked it. We used the pizza toppings we liked and followed the directions of the recipe. I think baking the bread first before putting on the sauce is crucial or else it would be waaaay too soggy. This won't blow anyone away, but it is good. You won't need as much sauce as the recipe calls for.

S'mores Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
This recipe is gorgeous. On the advice of other reviewers I made the graham crackers into a crust with butter and that worked great. Also, I didn't have chocolate chips so I just spread some hot fudge over the brownie and then added the marshmallows and cooked it for five minutes and then broiled it for two. Very delicious but very rich. I sprayed a normal amount of pam on my glass pie pan and had no problem getting it out.

California Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
This marinade was very fresh and light; such a nice change from the heavy, bottled marinades you buy at the store. Unlike other reviewers, I didnt think the marinade disguised the taste of the meat at all. I used Top Sirloin and marinded for about six hours and it turned out great. This won't knock your socks off, but has a nice, subtle flavor.

Parmesan Sage Pork Chops

I really liked this recipe. I didn't have any lemon peel, so I just poured a little lemon juice in the mix to get a little lemon taste and it worked fine. I used this on cheap pork chops and it really dolled them up. We will make this again for sure.

Oregano Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
This is a nice easy chicken that used ingredients we aready had. We didn't serve it over rice or noodles like suggested but it would have been good over rice because there as so much seasoned butter in the bottom of the pan. My only advice would be to throw some pepper and garlic salt on the chicken or else it is a tad bland.
