About this Cook
I'm a stay at home mom with 3 picky little eaters and I've got a great husband who isn't picky at all. I don't exactly love to cook but, since it was part of the job description, I try and give it my best shot.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake bread and sweet things. I also like trying to make ethnic food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
No real traditions however, when we lived in New Mexico for four years I learned to make some real good ethnic dishes. These are my families favorites and they're all the more fun to make when everyone joins in.
My cooking triumphs
My first loaf of bread (I couldn't believe I actually made it!) And an almond ring I could never get quite right after the first time.
My cooking tragedies
So many! But the one that stands out in my mind would be the time right after I was first married and I tried to use up the left over taco meat in the spaghetti sauce. My husband was grossed out but laughed about it just the same.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies
These were beautiful tasty cookies. They were gone in no time.

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins
These were pretty good. I left off the topping and then froze them. I set them out the night before to thaw for my children's breakfast in the morning.

Curried Butternut Squash and Pear Soup
I too roasted all of my veggies together. Only I had no pears and so used the only fruit in the house...granny smith apples. I halved all of the veggies and fruit (except the garlic) then brushed the open sides with olive oil. Roasted as suggested, then simmered them for a while in the broth, to soften them, before I blended. This was so good although, not very filling by itself. I'll have to find some more delicious Indian recipes to go along with it.
