I've had the pleasure of having lived on 5 of the seven continents (Haven't made it to Australia...yet!), so my cooking style tends to overlap cultures.
My favorite things to cook
I do my best work on the grill. Ribs, marinated roasts, burgers and dogs. Now that's good eatin'!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fried pies at Christmas. They're a combination of dried peaches, apricots and rasins fried in a light pastry shell.
My cooking triumphs
While I lived in Germany, for my girlfriend's (at the time) family, I cooked an southern style dinner. Collard greens w/hamhocks, black eyed peas, cornbread, a capon and fried pies for dessert. The funny thing was her family didn't believe that an American male could cook! Well let me tell ya, there were no leftovers.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to smoke a turkey, I ended up burning it because I had too many coals and not enought water. The poor thing dried out like a sponge in the sun.
