I lived in Grand Forks ND for about 5 years. After my divorce I moved in with my parents (who have an AWESOME kitchen) for a year. Now I live in Moorhead with my daughter and roommate. She seems to be annoyed by actually eating, however she loves to help me in the kitchen! I call her my little sous-chef!
Roommate loves my desire to perfect the complicated art of bread baking, because he's always the one who gets to taste! Homemade cinnamon rolls are a weekend staple in our little apartment!
I currently work for a plasma donation center, and am finishing up my degree in sociology. After which I plan to move back to my hometown of Minneapolis and go to Le Cordon Bleu.
I'm big into organics and seasonal foods, however buying organic is often out of my budget, so I try to stick to farmer's markets and in season ingredients.
The more I learn about food, the more I have a desire to keep what I eat pure and whole. I can't believe how many chemicals have been added to our foods, willingly!
My favorite things to cook
Breads, pasta dishes....
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother baked "bear bread" for me when I was a kid and I got to help. I also helped her jar pickles and make plum jelly from the wild plums that grew in her yard.
My mother is more of a baker but she does make a few good suppers.
My dad is a master of the grill. I have challenged him to a grilling showdown, but only after culinary school!
I am trying to start some traditions with my daughter, we do NOT eat fast food, and I want her to have a deep understanding of food! What we eat really is what we are!
My cooking triumphs
Stuffed mushrooms are always requested for family gatherings.
I baked bread and didn't mess it up! Which means we have fresh bread in the house quite often.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made meatballs I set the oven on fire!
The first time I tried to grill by myself, everything tasted like lighter fluid.... so we decided to go out for dinner that night.
