I grew up in the flavorful state of Louisiana. I now call Tennessee my home. I enjoy preparing "Vintage" recipes and reintroducing them to my family and friends. I love to serve meals that invoke memories of the past. This to me nourishes the soul as much as ones diet. My family gatherings are not complete with out a huge pot of Gumbo on the stove. It holds the place of honor for every occasion. Outside of that traditional fare Tamales and meat pies are prepared once a year by me and my sister. All family members wait expectantly for there share. Occasionally a younger female family member will share in this tradition so that she may learn the "secret" recipe, as well as the "proper preparation." My love of cooking has slowly produced requests for catering. While I have never considered recieving payment for doing what I love, the thought that others are willing to pay me to cater their important celebrations gives me a sense of pride.
