Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor, green Martian child and my family's flying saucer accidentally crash-landed here on Earth. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' up there in Baltimore, Havah Nagila, when my mama said, "Gurutrang Singh, it's your birthday, and it's time you knew. You're not our natural-born child. You were left on our doorstep...but we raised you like you were one of us. I said, "You mean I'm going to stay this color?" And my mama said, " But I'd love you if you were the color of a baboon's bum-bum ." And that's how it all happened!

Boy, I hope everybody's good and hungry. I know I am. I like corn bread-bagel-chapatis, with curried collard green, tsimmas, gefilte tofu and steamed crabapples.

My cooking tragedies
At the age of 8, while my parents were at a Baltimore Colts football game one Sunday, I mixed everything up I could find in the refrigerator and kitchen and bathroom cabinets in a big bowl and baked it. It blew up ours and the two next door neighbors homes. My parents were ticked off too!

Classic Minestrone
Bellisimo!!! I mean really, this is very tasty, Vegetarian, subtle and hearty, just about as perfect, healthy and delicious as you can get, especially when sprinkled with real, finely grated, aged, parmesean cheese. The only 4 changes in the recipe I would recommend are; 1) Go easy on the salt for your sodium-concerned family and friends. The parmesean will more than make up for that. 2) Be sure to use fresh tomatoes on the vine and blanch and chop them for the flavor and aliveness of the food. 3) Add a few cloves of fresh, chopped garlic - yummy. 4) Consider leaving out the pasta, which my local, gourmet, Northern Italian restaurant chef says is a no-no in Northern Italy. He also says, meat or chicken is never used in classic, Tuscan minestrone, so this recipe is a perfect Vegan choice when the parmesean is omitted! Great recipe - Buongiorno! P.S. All of my vegetarian friends at the party I just served this recipe at last night raved! You should have seen them!!!
