Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
This onion rings are awesome. I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and instead of frying them I baked them in the oven on 350 for like 30 minutes. I just sprayed a lot of pam on them. Also I didn't have baking powder so I just left it out and they were great without it. Can't wait to make them again. Was well worth the effort

Oven-Fried Catfish

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
I will make again. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is it was wayyyyyyy too salty. And I love salt. Next time I will batter it and then just season it on the cookie sheet to my liking. Tooo bad.

Tuna Caliente

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
Just made this. It's excellent. I didn't follow the measurements for the celery, jalapenos and onion exactly. I added more onion. Love it. Less celery. Hate it, but you can hardly tell it's in there. Hubby loves celery. And less jalapenos. I used two jalapenos. Was too scared it would turn out to spicy. Either those jalapenos weren't hot or it just needs more. Overall turned out really great. Can't wait to eat it for lunch tomorrow.

Garden Pork Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2007
This was yummy and easy. The only change I mad was use fresh garlic instead of garlic powder used only 2 cloves would use more next time and add some spicy garlic chili sauce to it due to personal preference. But that's it. It was delicious and I can't wait to make it again.

Made a few modifications. Was pretty good. Added some italian seasoning and used only cup of mozzarella and added some parmesan. Next time I will use fresh mushrooms, the canned ones just didn't do it for me. Will def make again

Cedar Plank-Grilled Salmon with Garlic, Lemon and Dill

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
Maybe I shouldn't rate this because I change it totally, but I didn't feel like chopping or preparing much. So I didn't use any oil at all. Used Lemon- dill seasoning and garlic powder some lemon pepper and salt. That's it. It was kind of the same thing just a faster and lower fat version. And it was yummmyyyy. The smell of the Cedar Plank was amazing. Ohhh I also used Sockeye Salmon.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
I took the other reviewers suggestions and doubled the sauce. Highly recommend. Also I cut down on the cornstarch and even that I used only half the amount it was still way too much. I had to add a bunch of water and soy sauce to smooth it out. I also added more honey and red peppers. There was still something missing. I also added carrots and broccoli. It needed some vegetables. Color combination looked very pretty. I will try this again, but next time with regular white rice instead of jasmine rice. The overpowering jasmine flavor took even more away from this recipe.

Serbian Cevapcici

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
This was great. Too bad I didn't have any tzatziki. I am Serbian and this is pretty close to the real thing. Maybe only pretty close because I forgot the baking soda. Not sure what difference it makes, but it tasted just fine without it. Served in a whole wheat pita with lettuce tomatoes and cucumbers. Yummy

Shrimp, Clams, and Scallops Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
This was good. I will make again soon. Now I am addicted. I couldn't find fresh clams so I bought canned. It was so much easier. Hubby loved it too. Thanks so much for sharing. Made some garlic break and a good bottle of Chardonnay. I cut the tomato paste in half as others recommended. I think it would have been too much if you put the whole amount. Added throughout the simmering more wine. Would add next time more crushed tomatoes to make it saucier.

Grilled Sea Bass

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
This was really good, but sounded a little fatty with all the oil and butter, so I had to change it a little to my healthy lifestyle. I used a whole sea bass, sprinkled it with all the seasonings inside and out. Added one tsp margarine into the fish. Added garlic and parsley in and around the fish. Wrapped it in foil. It was really great even without all the butter and oil.

California Jalapeno Trout

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2007
Great Recipe. Wouldn't change a thing. Used Ruby Trout. Forgot to add the jalapenos, but luckily had some jalapeno hotsauce and added it at the end. Made some roasted corn and one of those Lipton Thai Noodles with it. It was great. Hubby loved it.

Black-eyed Peas and Ham Hocks

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
This recipe was pretty good. I just fixed it in my Slow Cooker for 9 hours. I used more of the ham hock like 2 pounds and 2 pounds of smoked neck. I added much more pepper then the recipe asked for and added in addition to that about 2 teaspoons paprika, since I didn't like the original colar. It made it taste even better

False Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2005
I would make this dish next time a day ahead. The first day I didn't like it at all but the next day reheated it tasted much better. I had to add a ton of salt to the dish it was just too sweet for my taste. Being from Germany I am used to it tasting kind of sweet-sour. I also try to add vinegar to unsweet it. I would add wine sauerkraut instead of raw cabbage next time.

Pretty good. Made with some of those Knorr Asian Noodles. But not as good as the real think my Korean friend made.
