I am a Home Economics teacher although I haven't taught cooking in many years. The program is now called Family Consumer Science and is more diverse than just cooking and sewing.
My husband (just got married in March) is a fireman so we fight to see who will cook. He's a great cook but enjoys cooking more kinds of food for large numbers (casseroles, stews). I like quick easy healthy dishes with less than 5 indredients.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook salmon. Just a little kosher salt and pepper. The greatness is in the pan...I use caphalon hard anodized. It makes a great crunchy crust. Same with chicken breast. Sometimes I deglaze pan with a little balsamic vinegar and honey. Yummy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Again, I always look for easy. BBQing and using my caphalon cookware.
My cooking triumphs
My best ever was a beef wellington. I made the pate and dough. It was quite spectacular.
My cooking tragedies
I think the worst food I ever made was for a Thanksgiving a few years ago. I decided to try a new gravy. Everyone hated it! Luckily I had a can of Heinz gravy in the pantry. Last time I will ever try something new for Thanksgiving.
