Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
SO GOOD!!! I made this cake(the 2nd time) for a christmas party and people kept coming back for more and more. This time I made two layers of coffee cake instead of just one and used 1 and a 1/2 cups of coffee and a 1/2 cup of the coffee liqueur. Absolutely perfect! I liked it better when the cake was saturated with the coffee/liqueur mixture... like true tiramisu! I would highly recommend making this cake; it's simple and impressive!

Hot Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
I loved this peanut sauce! I went to the store earlier to get some ingredients for a asian chicken peanut dish. I bought a bottled thai peanut sauce, opened it... and threw it out... it was so awful. So quickly I went online and found this recipe. I used Jiff Creamy and I added a little extra tsp. of brown sugar... I thought it could've been a bit sweeter. And that may be because of my soy sauce. It was so old that most of liquid evaporated out and I was left with a rather thick(and very salty!) soy syrup... but overall it was the perfect sauce for my peanuty chicken lettuce wraps! I went back to the fridge multiple times throught the night for more!

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
These puff shells were perfect! They turned out lovely! However, I used the recipe for the Pastry Cream submitted by Kevin Ryan... which is delicious... The two combined made for a cream puff my coworkers swore up and down that I got them from a fancy bakery downtown... But I'll admit, they were quite a bit of work...

Roasted Cajun Potatoes

I made them for an outdoor dinner party and everybody loved them... They kinda complained they were a bit spicey, but I like them that way!

Down Under Lemon Tart

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
Very tangy! I loved it though! I made this for my friend who loves lemon flavored everything, she said it was a little too tangy, which surprised me, coming from her. But all in all, if you're looking for a recipe with a lot of lemon flavor, this is the one, most definatly.

Cool Whipped Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
The frosting was quite good. What really impressed me was how versatile it was, you can pretty much use any kind of pudding to make that flavor icing. So much better than store bought because it's not as sweet and is very light and fluffy.

Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2007
I've been trying recipe after recipe looking for the perfect peach cobbler... and I've finally found it!! the fresh peaches, I've found, are a must for a good cobbler... and this dough is the PERFECT consistancy, just what I think of when I think of peach cobbler at restaurants... I did add a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg to the peaches, but only a little: 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp nutmeg, cuz it's such a potent spice... oh, and I sprinkled in a pinch of ground cloves and added about half a tsp of this special Tahitian vanilla and scraped 1/2 of a vanilla bean into it... but as manu others have mentioned, you MUST drain some of the juice after baking the peaches, but before baking the dough... otherwise you'll get a soup consistancy... I served it hot with vanilla bean ice cream and everyone had seconds... even after a huge barbeque dinner...

Creme Brulee

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2007
I followed chefpeon's directions as well and it came out beautifully! so silky smooth, absolutley devine... very simple to do and fast... I have a brulee torch and would recommend using that... putting the custard bake under the broiler melts it and heats it up MUCH more than the torch does..

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
This recipe was delicious. I did, however, tweek it just a bit as others suggested. I added minced garlic and some brown sugar, I also thought some minced onion would go well. I enjoyed it and I will definatly be making my filets this was from now on.
