I have made this recipe at least a dozen times. I have made it exactly as written, and yes, it is a very thick batter, but that makes the pancakes very fluffy. The reviewers who have said that the centers are not done, are cooking them at too high a temperature. Those who said that the baking powder makes them taste bad need to try using Rumford baking powder, which doesn't have aluminum, which is what gives it the bad taste. I have also modified this reciped on occasion, (added vanilla), but it is excellent just as it stands. A lot of problems can be avoided with precise measuring, and using quality ingredients. Give it a try again and see what happens!
