Herbed Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
Very good recipe. I think I would give it 4 stars though, but I feel to bad to ruin the 5 star streak. I used chicken broth instead of water and omitted the salt. Also added a handful of parmesan and a pinch of red pepper. Had to thin with a little extra milk at the end. The next day I added butternut squash puree just because I had it. yum.

Chocolate Sauce

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
this is a great recipe as is, especially for kids. but my husband and i made it richer for us by using dark chocolate cocoa powder, using 1/2 cup less water, then stirring in 1/4 cup half and half (would have used cream if we had it!)with vanilla. yum!

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
Fabulous holiday recipe to have around or give away as gifts. I did what another reader suggested - added about 1/2 tsp vanilla to the sugar and blended it separately and only used regular creamer (not vanilla). Also added the extra spices - extra white pepper b/c we like it spicy! I also only used 1/2 the sugar, and those who like it sweeter just add a little honey (or sugar).

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
good recipe, but better (in my opinion) if 1/2 oil and 1/2 vinegar is used, as well as a little sugar (a tsp. for 10 servings).

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
pretty good recipe, although much better w/ added vanilla (2 tsp,) and cinnamon (1/2tsp.). i used 5 tbsp oats and 5 tbsp ground flax seed. i also only used 1/4 c brown sugar (i don't necessarily recommend, just trying to cut back on sugar) and it was great. i personally prefer it that way. thanks for sharing! oh, this makes only 5 medium pancakes, but they are quite hearty.

Banana Date Flaxseed Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
great recipe. i even cut the sugar in half (don't necessarily recommend, i just did it to cut sugar intake) and it was still great. i omitted the dates. it makes 2 mini loaves. i baked for 20 minutes in a dark pan for mini's.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
i wish i had read the reviews before making these. although good, they would be much more flavorful w/ half butter, half shortening and a tsp. or even 2 of vanilla. mine turned out pretty crispy - good, but i prefer a little chewier.

Harvest Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2007
wonderful dressing. i had to make it w/ strawbery jelly (all i had at the time) and it was really good. i know it would be fabulous w/ the jam called for. i add about 1/4 tsp. of salt which makes it both sweet and savory.

Whole Grain Healthy Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2007
i don't like rating a recipe that i have altered, but it was so fantastic i just have to comment. i think the recipe would be great on it's own, but b/c of what i did and did not have I: used brown sugar instead of splenda, used 3 bananas and 1 c applesauce, added 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg, i cut back 1/4 c. flour and added 1 c oats, 1/2 c walnuts, sprinkled w/ oats. I made 4 mini loaves. it was a dark pan so I baked for 25 min. perfect. sooo yummy especially for such a healthy bread.

Chap Chee Noodles

My husband and I loved it! This is the first five star rating I've ever given! The only change I made was to leave out the cabbage so that I could serve it with a Napa cabbage salad.

Healthy Banana Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
A great recipe, although I substituted peanut butter for oil, ommitted the dates, and added a handful of chocolate chips. A wonderful healthy treat! Although next time I will flatten the dough on the cookie sheet being that they do not spread at all, and are a little too chewy in the center

Butternut Squash Bisque

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2005
This recipe was fabulous! Very warm, cozy, and satisfying. Although I did substitute one golden delicious apple for the carrots, and it was perfect. It added just a touch of sweetness. I also lightened it by omitting the heavy cream and stirring in about 2 tbsp. of sour cream at the end.
