Cheese Stuffed Turkey Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I just made this, and I am hoping it turns out well. I am a vegan. It is for a friend who had a baby. I used to eat poultry, and I always enjoyed turkey loaf. I have a fav recipe on allrecipes, but didn't have the ingrediants on hand. I think this will be good. My modifications were skipping the cooking spray (we just shouldn't eat things in aerosol cans), was sadly out of parsley, skipped adobo seasoning, added garlic powder, dried minced onions, only had 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, so I made up the rest with wheat germ, and I put 3/4 cup of cheddar inside. On the top I put Trader Joes barbecue sauce. AGain, I think it will be good.

Sausage Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
This had a really great flavor. I used soy creamer instead of half & half. I also used chicken sausage, baby bella mushrooms, dried parsley,a whole wheat frozen pie crust, and 2% mozzerella cheese. I sauteed the mushrooms in olive oil and garlic powder before putting them in the egg mixture. Next time I will bake the crust first as some suggested. That should probably be done with all quiches to prevent sogginess.

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I hate dark meat, but I didn't want to throw it away from the Thanksgiving turkey. My mom-in-law lives with us, and she loves dark meat. So I decided to make some turkey soup, even though I never had done so before. I tasted it, and it's actually really good. The half and half helped me a lot. I lvoe creamy soup. I used cornstarch instead of flour, and I probably only used about 1/2 cup or a little less. I also sauteed 2 tsps of minced garlic with the vegetables. Instead of salt I used garlic salt, and I added parsely flakes. I also used organic brown basmati rice. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Turkey Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
Thank you for listing this. I basically looked at this recipe to see how long it should be baked. My ingredients were quite a bit different because I wanted to make a shepherds pie to use up left overs from Thanksgiving dinner. I figured cooking times shouldn't be too different though. I'll list the ingredients so people have ideas on what they could throw in their own. I used the homemade whole wheat stuffing for a bottom crust, I just pushed it all down into the bottom. Then I put a little shredded cheddar on top of it. Next I put shredded white turkey meat. On top of that I used the rest of our homemade turkey gravy. Then I put most of the left over broccoli casserole. On top of that more shredded cheddar cheese. The final layer were the homemade mashed potatoes. I then sprinkled more cheese on top of the potatoes. I assembled in a Pampered Chef deep dish stone pie plate. It tasted fantastic!

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
Turned out really great! I used parsely instead of tarragon. I used organic, red potatoes, and left the skin on the tater. All of the nutrients are in the skin. I also added a bit of cheddar cheese. Thank you so much for a soup recipe that works!!!!

Broccoli Sausage Breakfast Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
This was really good. I used Trader Joes buckwheat pancake mix instead of Bisquick. I used lowfat buttermilk instead of whole milk. I used some fresh spinach, tomatoes, and the recommended broccoli. I sauteed them all in evoo and onion. I also used sweet, Italian, turkey sausage instead of the pork sausage.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
Truly the best meatloaf ever!!!! I don't eat beef or pork, so this was great. I've been trying for years to make a turkey meatloaf that worked for me. I had never been satisfied until now. I used the bag of 2% cheddar and colby jack cheese cubes already in my fridge...how perfect was that?!! I used skim milk, and like others had suggested I soaked the breadcrumbs in it. I used plain orgainic whole wheat breadcrumbs and seasoned them myself. I don't like oregano, and it's always in the Italian breadcrumbs. I also used Trader Joes BBQ sauce instead of ketchup because I hate ketchup. I made two loafs, and froze the other one. Thank you for submitting this recipe!

Whole White Wheat and Honey Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Ok my kids and myself all say these are the best cookies we've ever had! I combined whole wheat flour and organic white flour to make my own whole white wheat. I used some walnuts since I was out of pecans. I used regular skim milk, not powdered. I don't keep powdered milk here. I also added some wheat germ, and some flax seed. Truly they were chewy, sweet, but not too sweet, and really hit the spot. I woke up excited each day to eat some!

Mary Anne's Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
This was really yummy if you like carrot cake! I actually halfed the recipe. I will not use a bundt pan next time. I greased the sides well, and it still stuck. The cake is so moist, so I think that is why. I used half whole wheat and half organic unbleached white flours. I nixed the raisins because I hate them. I added wheat germ and walnuts. Truly, this was extremely tasty. I may try to use this recipe with zucchini next time.

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
It was very, very yummy. I am a huge quiche fan to begin with so that tells you I know a good quiche when I have one. I used cheddar cheese in mine. I also sauteed my broccoli first in a little evoo, salt, pepper, crushed garlic, fresh diced tomatoes, and portabello mushrooms from a can. One day I'd like to try and make my own crust for it.

Fried Rice II

They were ok. It just didn't taste like the ones from a Chinese or Japanese restaurant that I was craving. Maybe it was the type of soy sauce that I used.

Chicken With Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
This was very good .The following is what I did with the recipe. I mixed a little buttermilk in with the eggs. I used whole wheat bread crumbs, and I mixed in wheat germ, ground flax seed, salt, pepper, garlic salt, dried parsley, and dried basil. I used canned button mushrooms since that was all I had. I sauteed them in evoo and a little red cooking wine. I didn't have enough mushrooms to put on the bottom so mine were just on top. I only had shredded mozzerella cheese, so I liberally put that on top. I served it with pasta and sauce, and steamed broccoli. Over all it was very yummy!

Health Nut Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
They were/are pretty good as far as taste. What I don't like is the next day the batter in the middle seemed to go soggy. That was upsetting. I actually didn't put the berries in the mix. I scooped the batter into the cups, and next placed a couple berries into each batter-filled cup. I used Whole Foods frozen mixed berries. Fresh blueberries are too expensive right now. I can't say they are the best muffins that I have ever had, but I like them enough to make them again.

The Best Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
I was excited to find this one. The ingrediants are more of what I was looking for tonight. I was happy as well to see grape jelly was not a listed ingrediant as someone else mentioned. Sadly, I found that I was out of soy sauce, so I noticed in other recipes that people called for Worchester sauce, and that I did have. So that is what I used instead of the soy sauce. I had everything else. Now it turned out pretty good. I used ground turkey instead of beef, as usual, since I can't eat beef. I also added cornstarch for thickness, and I used whole wheat flour instead of white. I don't think it specified, but I used light brown sugar, and I'm thinking that I should've used dark brown sugar because the color of my sauce was much lighter than the one in the picture. Yes, I actually was wanted something darker in color. I think that I will skip the onions next time, otherwise dice them much smaller. I only used 1/4 of onion, and it seemed to be an over abundance of onion, and I am an onion fan. Over-all it was extremely yummy, my 7 year old said it was a keeper!

Chicken Breast Stuffed with Spinach Blue Cheese and Bacon

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I had 3 leftover plain baked split chicken breasts in the fridge and I didn't feel like making chicken salad with them. So that led me to this recipe. I used turkey bacon and feta cheese instead of the blue cheese and pork bacon. I also used fresh baby spinach and some diced fresh tomatoes. I sauteed the spinach with garlic, salt, pepper, and the tomatoes. I sprinkled the tops of the stuffed breasts with parmesean cheese. Turned out great! Thank you!

Chicken and Corn Chowder with Thyme

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
I was so excited to try this recipe, I thought it looked fairly easy. I had never made a chowder before. It was not as thick as I would have liked, I suppose thats my fault thought for using fat-free half and half. My other issue was it was kind of bland. I am adding some more salt and pepper to see if I just didn't add enough. I am considering adding shredded cheddar. I only used a little thyme since I was not that familiar with it. I could increase that too.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
My family loved this recipe! I was looking for a different mac n cheese than my own. I love the one that I make, but my one son doesn't like the tomatoes. That son actually wouldn't even try this new one, if you can believe that. In any case, I doubled the recipe, every ingredient, and it was outstanding. I actually used non-fat cottage cheese, reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese, and light sour cream to reduce some calories. I didn't have them on hand this time, but next time I will use whole wheat bread crumbs and whole wheat noodles.
