Simple Golabki

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
I used 1/2 meatloaf mix and half Jimmy Deans sausage. I also used a can of fire-roasted diced tomatoes with chile's in it. Finally, like other reviewers, I added 1/4 tsp Paprika, 2 tsp dried Parsley and 1 tsp garlic powder. Also simmered for closer to 25 minutes. We enjoyed the different twist (btw - my mom tried to make it with ground turkey - NOT GOOD).

Leddie Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2012
Very easy to make. I used cream of chicken soup (all I had on hand) and diced about 3/4 c of fresh mushrooms, which I sauteed for about 3 min. with the green onion before mixing the soup & water in. Served over white rice. Tasted best with lots of sauce over it. I used 4 chicken breasts (glad I did - there wouldn't have been enough sauce to cover 6).

Sauteed Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
Used frozen french cut greenbeans, toasted the almonds separately in the toaster oven and added at the end with the crumbled bacon once the green beans were heated through in the bacon grease and butter. AWESOME!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Turned out awesome! I gave it 4 stars because I followed other reviewers advice and used the brown sugar mix as a glaze on top. This turned out excellent with 90/10 beef in cupcake molds. I took them out and put them on a cookie sheet for the last 10 minutes after reglazing once more. Out new favorite way to eat meatloaf!

Slow Cooker Chicken Parisienne

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
Followed others' advice and added garlic, parmesan, art. hearts and left uncovered for last hour. Used frozen chicken breasts. Everyone loved it and it presented well- I added enough paprika to color it and threw in a little chipotle pepper seasoning at the end. Added leftovers to elbow mac and served as a casserole, which was even better! Thanks!

Spinach Salad II

Too sour. Will try cutting lemon juice or adding sugar next time.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
I tried it with some of the healthier subs (1/2 wheat flour, 1/2 white; 1/2 oil, 1/2 applesauce). For folks who do not cook with whole wheat flour regularly -- don't use it here. The bread was so moist I really wished I'd stuck with the original recipe b/c all I could taste was the wheat (which I don't associate with zucchini bread). Can't wait to try again, no changes this time!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
The first night I served over rice and it felt like I was serving spicy watery soup over rice. To the leftovers, I added a can of cream of chicken soup and dumped the rice right in. I liked it better that way. Will make again with the cream soup and rice mixed in. Also, I didn't have breast meat so I used dark meat. I would probably do that again - it was good and very tender.

Herb Roasted Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2005
I used a half turkey breast (bone in) for this recipe and it turned out moist and delicious. I halved the herbs as well, and added pats of butter under the skin too. Was done in 1.5 hours. Wonderful!

Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2005
I followed another reviewer's advice and baked the squash whole for an hour before cutting & scooping out insides into a caserole dish. I added the sugar & butter and microwaved with cover for 4 minutes on high. Then I used my hand blender to smooth out the consistency. Loved it!

Hawaiian Chicken I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2005
I liked this chicken but found the dipping sauce to be a little heavy on the Worcestershire sauce. I might cut that in half next time and use a little less soy (can always add more later if it needs something).

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2005
I cut chicken into bite-size pieces before browning, and then added the chicken & onions into my crock pot, along with the rest of the ingredients. Cooked on high for 3-4 hours - smelled delicious! Sauce was perfect consistency and chicken was very tender, although the dish seemed to have a slightly bitter aftertaste. Might try with wine next time instead of vinegar if I use the crock. Served with angel hair & green beans.
