Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
GREAT! Left out the white sugar the second time I baked them (exactly one day after the first batch), because I thought they were a little too sweet. A winner.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
As delicious as it is easy. That is, VERY. SO simple and quick, and the taste is amazing! Followed the recipe and didn't add the other user's suggestions, came out beautiful.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2006
VERY good! The batter was extremely liquidy, I thought I may have not put enough flour. But it baked just fine into a lovely, moist, flavorful loaf of pumpkin bread. All the spices really add flavor. It reminds me of our old house keeper's zuccini patties, because of the sweet spices and veggie combo. In short: delicious!

Vegan Split Pea Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2006
This is EXCELLENT! Tons of flavor. However, after 3 hours of cooking the split peas were still not tender enough. So will add more water and continue to cook it tomorrow morning. Otherwise, this is great! Thanks for sharing.

Banana Oatmeal Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
The cake is great! I used a bigger baking pan so shortened the baking time. Also, I used 3 large bananas and will use 4-5 next time. Other than that, people told me it was the best cake they had ever eaten!

Summerly Squash

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2006
Terrific! I didn't use the bay leaf because I fogot to, and used lots of fresh basil instead of dried. Perfect! Nothing beats the old tomato-garlic-basil combo. Very nice, highly recommended.

Mushroom Soup Without Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
Made this soup with plenty of variation... Didn't have leeks so used red onions instead. Also didn't have carrots, so replaced them with colorabi. Didn't use thyme, either. Used portabella and forest mushrooms, not button. Came out GREAT! Served it with wild rice, as recommended. Was really wonderful, full of flavor like no other soup. Great for weight watchers who're looking fora light, cream-less mushroom soup.

Ali's Greek Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2006
Great recipe. I followed it exactly, apart from the tortellini pasta. My supermarket didn't offer them, so I used raviolli instead. Incredible! Great summer salad.

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
Thinking I knew better, I didn't space the cookies enough. SPACE THEM! Other than that, they're great. Israel's supermarkets do not offer corn syrup, so I used honey instead. Thought the orange peel really added something extra. V. good recipe.

Chocolate Revel Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
These were quite nice. I thought they were pretty bland, though my mom and her friends thought they were awesome. I think the 9X13 pan is too small, and the bottom layer of the dough came out too thick for my liking.

Feta and Olive Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
Very good meatballs. Forgot to buy olives and didn't have italian seasoning (they don't stock that in Israel), so didn't use these ingredients. However, I did add some fresh chopped basil. I think two eggs are a bit too much, so next time I'll use only one. Also, used both ground turkey and ground beef. Finally, I baked it in the over and it came out very good! Loved the idea of the feta cheese. Will definitely do this again, this time will try to remember to buy olives.

Beef Bourguignon II

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
Very good recipe. I halved the recipe, and therefore shortened the baking time by half an hour. If I ever half it again (which I won't, because it's a great recipe and I would want to make a big portion), I would decrease it by a further half an hour, just so it would stay moist. It tasted very good and homey, and I would definitely make this again and again. Unlike another user, I didn't find this time consuming cooking-wise, it was pretty simple. I made it for dinner with my boyfriend, and when he came back for seconds, the portion was bigger than the first one! We also drank the wine I used for the cooking. I highly recommend this, and thank you for sharing!

Washabinaros Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
Very good recipe! Unfortunately, didn't have a lot of the ingredients here in Israel, so I made this one with plenty of changes, e.g. only 1 can of red beans instead of 3 cans kidney beans. Couldn't find wasabi- though next time I'll make sure I have since I bet this makes up the whole dish- nor any of the fresh chili peppers, so used only chili powder and black pepper. Didn't use beef broth but increased the amount of beer... All in all, loved it, family loved it, will definitely make this again and I think it's a good recipe to experiment with. Thanks!

Moussaka

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Good. No need to add an egg to the beef mixture, for sure. Red wine- very important, for too much tomato flavor causes the meat part to taste more like bolognese than moussaka. Loved the bechamel sauce, will definitely make this again with lots more of the spices (cinnamon and nutmeg).

Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
I only gave this recipe four stars and not five because I think the while sugar can be omitted. It was too sweet for both my mother's and my liking. But other than that, this is amazing! So unbelievably easy to make, and the end result is delicious. Great recipe.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
Everyone said it was very good. This was my first lasagna after 4 years of not eating meat, so I don't really have something to compare it to, but I liked it a lot. However, since I live in Israel and Italian sausage isn't readily available, I used a French sausage, diced. Next time I'll chop it maybe...

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2006
Tastes good and homey. I substituted vegetable oil for butter, used more honey instead of sugar, and subbed 1 cup each of raising and almonds/walnuts for chocolate chips. I also used half the amount of flour lister, and processed some 2-3 cups of branflakes and quaker squars in the blender, instead of some of the oatmeal. All in all, turned out more like dense oatmeal cookies, rather than granola bars. Still good though, even if it's too sweet and heavy for my idea of a bar. Good recipe, will make it again with some more alterations.

Chocolate Cut Out Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2006
These were nice enough for 5 year-old birthday party. They're easy to roll and cut, the flavor is very agreeable. Nothing gourmet about it, though, so will stick to making cute chocolate ducks for kids.

Glazed Apple Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2006
They taste great, but I think I must have under-baked them, because they're way too soft. I also didn't glaze them because I have frosting of all kinds. They're very well spiced, warm and tasty.
