Apple Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: May 2, 2006
I halved the recipe and used butter in place of shortening - as shortening is hard to come by in some parts of the world. An apple, cored, peeled and shredded equaled about 1 cup for me (I used and "Elster" apple - it's red and tastes a bit like a Granny Smith apple) and I sprinkled a little bit of shredded coconut on half of the muffins just to see how it would turn out - The coconut-topped muffins toasted nicely - and taste heavenly :-) Overall, these cupcakes turned out great - I give it 5 stars - a keeper for my recipe box - will make again and again and again...

Honey Wheat Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2006
this is a great bread - the texture is just like store bought and it's really easy to make. ***** 5 stars = "the best" I read that some people said it took too long to rise - i use to have that problem with baking my own bread, too - but i don't anymore - all you have to do is let it rise in a warm oven - i put my at 50-degrees C. for 45 minutes for the first rise and 30 minutes for the second rise. it's turns out perfect every time. this recipe also doesn't use egg or milk - it's super tasty, too - hmmm mmm good!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
a quick easy bread that doesn't require a bread machine - i like that -- a good 5 stars - i will definitely make this again - i would like to note that i used butter instead of shortening - and all purpose flour instead of bread flour - and 1/2 the fat evap. milk -- great texture - not too sweet -- tastes like store bought -- good stuff!

Cherry Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2006
tastes very good and easy to make. we had it for dessert at easter dinner - my sister in law thought it was too rich - she would like to suggest making it with less cocoa and more cherries, but her boyfriend liked it just the way it was :-)

Honey Oatmeal Bread II

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2006
this was more dense than i like my bread to be -- but it tasted good -- i think that if i make it again i will have to use two pkgs. of yeast to get it to rise enough... ditto with the other reviewers - it needed between 1 & 2 cups more flour.

No Beans About It - Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
Because I live in Holland and haven't been able to find chili w/out beans in the grocery store -- I was so happy to find this recipe -- and I had all the ingredients on hand. Yum - Yummy -- tastes so good -- even better than canned Hormel chili in my opinion. The only thing differently I did was process the chili at the end - so that it had that good canned chili sauce texture. I served it on hotdogs and have enough leftover for our baked potatoes tomorrow night - Yippee!

Applesauce Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2005
I'm giving this recipe 4 stars, however, when I added a few m&m candy pieces to my second batch -- it was easily a 5 star recipe. I think this recipe just needs some crunch added to it -- perhaps even some chopped pecans would do the trick. I will bake it again b/c it's an easy recipe and I often have leftover applesauce in the fridge -- it's a good 4 star recipe -- but like I said, easily a 5 star with a few additions of your choice!

Famous Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2005
these are good -- but not as good as my brothers -- he told me he used the recipe on the quaker oat box -- it must be a different one -- mine came out all cakey like -- but his are large and flat and crispy -- and that's what i'm looking for.

Italian Green Bean Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2005
Wow - I feel so full - that was a very satisfying meal. I paired it with rice. I resized the meal for two - and it was perfect for my husband and I. He added extra salt and pepper - but mine was perfectly flavored. Very delicious indeed -- and I would make it again.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2005
First time i reviewed this i gave it 4 stars, but since then, I've made this several times and we really like it at our house. i like to add a few things to it while it's cooking - like whatever i have on hand - usually green peppers, celery, potatoes - all diced up - it serves well over rice. So I'd like to change my rating from 4 stars to 5*****

Lower Fat Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2005
before i made this bread i read some of the other comments. I reduced the vanilla to one teaspoon and used 3 small bananas. The bread turned out really good. It only needed to bake for about 45 minutes -- my oven heats pretty fast- and I think it was good enough to make again. I gave it 4 stars b/c it's good -- but maybe not the best i've ever had.
