Unsloppy Joes

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
Pretty good - tastes like your basic no-beef chili - i like it - could use some shredded chedder cheese - then it would be perfect.

Amazing Banana Sorbet

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2006
i used reduced fat evaporated milk and some fat free sterilized milk instead of water - to cream it up - it was delicious - will make again.

Mango Sorbet

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
it was okay - i think it could make a good base - for another sorbet - like i'd like to add strawberries or bananas next time b/c just mango is a bit plain to me.

Potatoes Madras

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
i may change the rating of this b/c i altered the recipe a bit - i added a can of coconut milk and i pureed it in my food processor and served it like soup - i'm not sure i liked it though... i think it was the lentils - i don't care for the texture - i'd like to try this again without the lentils.

Quorn™ and Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2006
my husband and i both like this a lot - we will make it again - it was a deep red color and was great over rice - i'm sure you could even add other vegetables if you wish - i think i may add broccoli or cauliflower next time - delicious!

Indian Hot Curried Mangos with Tofu

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2006
I first made this like 2 years ago and rated it like 4 or 5 stars... but today I made it and followed the recipe and it was totally bland and boring. I even added broccoli and red peppers. We had to add like 1 tsp of salt and it was still bland. I think my taste buds have changed over the years... but this was so totally not spicy at all - how can they call it "hot" in the recipe title and it's not even spicy?!

Marrakesh Vegetable Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2006
I like it. but my husband did not. And since i'm not a converted vegetarian yet - (what? my husband just said... and i say - the Lion and the Lamb shall lie down together... in the future it's veggies and chick peas for us)... anyway, i'm not vegetarian yet... so i won't be making this one anytime soon... but i did like it.

Apple and Honey Sorbet

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2006
well - it was good - all my guest ate it up - my husband liked it - but it was not by far the best i've ever had -- i prefer the Lemon Ice 1 on this site to this... that was a 5 star treat -- maybe if this had some cinnamon instead of lemon to spice it up -- that might help.

Tater-Dipped Eggplant

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2006
my husband looked pretty disappointed at dinner when i said we were having eggplant... but he loved it and ate it up - yay! I used margarine instead of butter and added some extra spices like other reviewers said... I had a lot leftover and saved the potato flakes for another time... I think this would be a great way to dip zucchini rounds as well... I will make this again - it's easy and tastes great... though a bit on the salty side - i'd use 1/2 teaspoon salt instead.

Grandma Cornish's Whole Wheat Potato Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
Wow - this makes a lot of bread - way too much - b/c I had such a hard time working with so much dough - and i had to add much more flour than called for (almost half a kilo) and it took like all day to bake - i have a little oven and I couldn't do all four loaves at once - and my oh my how they were big loaves -- could easily have made 6 regular size loaves... hmm, the taste and texure is mediocre, dense, and not tasty at all... I will definitely not be making this again.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
this was very good - just the right amount of cinnamon - although i did not really care for the blueberries - luckily i didn't put a whole pint in so it was okay - i would make this again - but only as regular zucchini bread without the blueberries - one other reviewer said they added lemon extract in place of the cinnamon - if i did that next time i would go ahead and use the blueberries - but blueberries and cinnamon is not a good combo to me.

Vegan Split Pea Soup I

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2006
My husband loves pea soup - and he can even keep eating even after he is full - afterall he is Dutch - and the Dutch love pea soup - which is why this soup would have to be pretty impressive for me to rate it 5 stars -- BUT -- after 3 hours -- and following the recipe to the T -- it's not too thick, not too runny -- it's just too blah! And it did not impress my native Dutch husband - who didn't even finish the soup -- or me.

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2006
Me and my hubby both loved it - we had two bowls each - yummy! I thought it looked a little funny in color so i added a bit of tomato puree to darken it up - other than that - i stuck to the recipe -- it was delicious and i will make it again.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
the first time i made this - just rated it a 4 - mainly b/c yep - they are easy to make but i think really the only thing they are lacking is some frosting... therefore - still a 4 rating - but i make them twice now and will probably make again - and just add some simple frosting to top them off.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2006
I can see why everyone is giving this one 5 stars - and why I am, too -- can I just say YUMMY -- this is going to be one of my new favorites - so easy to make - a great cookies - needs no eggs - no chocolate chips and no brown sugar - great when you don't have those ingredients on hand -- and great not to turn on the oven on a hot humid day with no A/C -- I love this cookie [bar] - I spread it out in a pan to make like a brownie - cookie bar -- it's so yummy -- there goes my diet ;-)

Clare's Whole Wheat Potato Bread

i don't like this bread - it tastes okay - but it didn't rise very much and it's so dense - i don't care for the texture... the flavor is okay - i like the honey but i probably will not make this again.

Swope Bread

Reviewed: May 4, 2006
I've baked this bread twice - once yesterday and now today - both times it turned out kind of spongey in texture - and it has a funny taste - although - no after taste - as you sometimes get with yeast-breads -- i like it but i don't really like it -- but i like that it's easy to bake - like a cake - you just mix everything together and pour it in the tin - and it bakes so fast - and you don't have to wait for it to rise and get your hands sticky kneeding it - so this bread has it's advantages - but it's no 5 star bread in my opinion.
