Hearty Multigrain Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2007
I didn't like the fresh out of the bread maker taste of it - that's rare for bread... it was pretty good after 2 or 3 days - that's also rare... i liked it enough to finish it off but honestly, i'm not sure i'd make it again.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
This was so yummy - it didn't last long at our house (the only thing i did different was use sunflower oil in place of the butter) I will so definitely make this again - my husband even liked it - he who does not eat bread without jam -- and he ate it plain!

Savory Herb Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2007
very good and easy to make - the only thing different i did was add frozen chopped broccoli to it while it cooked - it was a nice side dish (hubby thought it was too strong, next time i'll use only 1 tbsp soy sauce)

Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
I thought this bread might now rise or turn out b/c during the knead cycle i looked in and saw that it was really sticky and thin - but by the 3rd rise cycle it rose all the way up and baked perfect - also the crust was light and not too thick like I have been getting with other recipes - so I'd say this is my new favorite (note: i used a bread flour mix instead of all-purpose or regular bread flour - my mix includes wheat bran, wheat germ, and potato flakes)

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
The Best! I followed the recipe exact except for one change - I added about 1/2 cup canned corn that I had leftover from another recipe. My husband especially loves it and says it's the best split pea soup I've made :-) ahhh - music to my ears. Unlike some other reviewers I did not find this soup to be thin - I found it to be just the right consistency. I made it on the stove top - like it says in the Notes section at the bottom of the recipe and it only took 2 hours to prepare :-)

Light Oat Bread

very good but didn't rise enough -- i'd make it 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast instead.

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2006
this is easy to make; however, i think there is too much cumin in the original recipe. I made mine with only 1/4 tsp cumin and that was enough spice for me - with this variation - i'd give it 5 stars.

Sesame Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
This was a nice easy side dish to make. It tasted good and I would make it again - it's always nice to have an alternative to regular steamed rice. It's also nice that you can have it baking while you prepare the rest of the meal by stovetop.

Asian Spiced Chicken in Wonton Cups with Vanilla Apricot Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
this was very good - could easily be a 5 star with a few adjustments. I think it either needs less cumin or more apricot sauce - i had to add some sweet chili sauce to make it taste less dry. Overall, a good appetizer that I would make again.

Pumpkin Ice Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
This was a delicious treat. I took it to a dinner party and everyone really like it. I made a few changes though, for the ginger snaps - I used Speculaas - b/c that is what we have that is similar here in Holland. Also, I couldn't find any pecans so I used walnut ice cream in place of the vanilla - that helped cut down on the cost side, too. I'd make this again - it was very good. I did half the recipe - and that came to about 1/2 liter of ice cream in case anyone is wondering. Also, I think it would be a good idea to skip the cookies and just put it in a pre-baked cookie pie crust and top it with whipped cream. Excellent!

Herbed Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
this is delicious - i did however, use dried herbs and garlic - i used 1 tsp garlic and mixed it in with the other herbs - i used 1 tsp parsley, 1 tsp oregano, about 1/4 tsp thyme, about 1 tbsp margarine - and the rest i left the same - oh i sized it to 4 servings btw... and it is so yummy - i'm taking the leftovers for lunch tomorrow - i'm so lucky to have leftovers - yay - i get to eat it again... i also liked that this recipe did not contain cheese b/c i have a picky-eater husband who despises cheese... thanks Stephanie for this great and easy recipe!

Pumpkin Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
at first i rated it 3 stars b/c you know everyone else liked it so much... but i couldn't even finish it - i dumped the leftovers - therefore it's a two star... but i would be willing to try it again if i made a few variations - for one - i'd use brown beans and more pumpkin b/c i couldn't even taste the pumpkin

Vegan Split Pea Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
it was pretty good and easy to make - but it had to cook for a lot longer before the peas were actually mushy like we like it - and it was really watery - too much for me - i added some smoked sausage and that really helped with flavor

Microwave Chicken Parmesan/Chicken Breast Cacciato

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2006
quick and easy to make - i made it even easier by using about 2 tablespoons mayonaise in place of the egg - and my favorite bottled-marinara sauce - would make again.
