Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Sauce is very good-however, baking ribs instead of boiling ribs left them somewhat tough.

Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
this was awesome - best salmon patties I have ever had. only thing I added was 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise, and used 2 eggs instead of one. Also used crushed garlic croutons instead of saltines. Amazing!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
added teaspoon of black pepper and 2 cloves of garlic to liquid mixture. ALso if you aren't putting stuffing into the cavities, put in some fresh peeled fruit instead to keep the turkey from drying out from the inside.

Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Absolutley fantastic just as it is. If you double the recipe for a big family function, use a can of cream of celery soup and one can of cream of mushroom soup instead of two cans of cream of mushroon soup. Also, mix all the liquid and spice ingredients first, then mix in the cheese, and once all mixed well, then add the broccoli. That way it is all evenly distributed as it is difficult to stir once the broccoli is added.

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
This recipe has become my family's favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas staple. It is a different texture, but we like it better than the traditional pumpkin pie. The texture is whipped versus dense. Make sure to use a deep dish pie shell; I add 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 teaspoon of brandy; make sure to prepare steusel topping before putting pie in oven-there is not enough time to make streusel topping after it goes into oven.

water chestnuts weren't necessary, make celery and pecans pieces bigger, too savory - needs maybe more relish or some fruit??

Very good! Used durkee onions on top instead of cornflakes. Didn't change anything else. Also, this serves well more than eight.

Simple Country Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
Rub ribs with any kind of rub and let sit in fridge for at least a half hour. Bring salted water to a boil and then add ribs and barbecue sauce and onion. Then slow boil for 40 minutes. (On my stove slow boil is about 5.) Sauce is too thin to use for anything else-try less water next time.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
Make sure parmesan cheese is room temperature before baking otherwise it just becomes all crusty and not melty. In other words if you refrigerate it for later baking, add the cheese/panko mixture to the top just before baking.
