Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

I make this with canned sweet potatoes and It turns out great. I took the advice of another reviewer: "One large can (40 oz I think) is just over 4 cups (I use the whole can), but the trick is to boil them in the syrup for awhile to get them kinda mushy, then drain and mash them in a bowl…" This is good advice and I get rave reviews on this recipe. I use heavy cream instead of milk and I half the sugar as they can be pretty sweet if using canned. I don't always make the topping and they are still fantastic. This recipe is easy and so, so good :)

Czech Cabbage Dish

This recipe calls for regular pork bacon but we don't eat pork so I made this with turkey bacon. It still tasted pretty good but I think the fat and flavor from regular bacon would have mellowed the flavor of the cabbage and vinegar a little better and would have made for a better blend. I Added about 3 teaspoons of sugar to balance it out. It is a very good recipe though next time I will add a little butter and more bacon and salt than this recipe calls for when using turkey bacon.

Creamy Broccoli Soup

I made this soup tonight and it is excellent! I doubled the recipe based on another review and it was just enough for our family of four. I had to add a little more flour mixed with a bit of water just to thicken it up a little bit but that may have been because I double the recipe, otherwise, I followed this recipe exactly and it is superb.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

I have been making this potato soup recipe for years and it is Fantastic! I never peel the potatoes, I just chop them and throw them in with the peels on. (My excuse is that the vitamins are in the peels but really, I am just to lazy to peel them!). If you don't have ham the soup will still taste great without it and I love the fact that this recipe does not call for heavy cream since heavy cream can be expensive. This is an excellent recipe and deserves every star. Thank you ELLIE11 for sharing this easy and affordable soup recipe.

One Pot Pinto Beans

Tried these today. Best pinto bean recipe so far and the family loved them too! I followed the recipe exactly, used 2 teaspoons of salt and added a 1/2 cup of water toward the end of cooking to keep them from drying out but I think they would have been fine without the added water. Excellent recipe!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

This is the best salad I have ever made, it reminds me very much of the *warm tomato and spinach salad* that we love at Bucca di Beppo's (our favorite Italian Restaurant) I made this according to the recipe with no changes. It is worth every star and then some.

Herbed Twice-Baked Potatoes

Wow! Fantastic recipe. The only thing I would do differently is scrape potatoes to 1/4 inch of the skin as another reviewer suggested. This will keep the skins from tearing as easily.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

These cookies were very good but leaned more toward a sugar cookie flavor rather then the Ginger cookie I was looking for. Still, this is a very good cookie but I prefer a little more spice in my ginger cookies.

Bread Pudding II

Wonderful and easy recipe. I was able to throw this together on Christmas morning in about 10 minutes. I will drizzle this with a powdered sugar glaze next time per my husbands request but it is great as is and was gone in no time.

Best Green Bean Casserole

I like to make a recipe the first time through with no changes to give it a fair shot. This recipe is just perfect as is and does not need any changes. Making this at Thanksgiving is so convenient because it is quick and easy to prepare and it cooks at the same time and temp as the *Sweet Potato casserole II* recipe found on this website which helps tame the cooking chaos. I heard nothing but MMMM's over this one.

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

This recipe is so economical. I was able to stretch one more meal out of this turkey by using the carcass and making this awesome soup (So important in these hard economic times) I made this exactly as stated and it turned out great, no changes necessary. I served this with leftover rolls from Thanksgiving and there will be enough soup leftover to feed lunch to my family of four tomorrow. 5 stars!

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Sweet and Sour Meatballs

My mom used to make this for us when I was a kid and I am so happy to have finally found the recipe. I made the meatballs with ground turkey rather then beef and so I added about 3/4 c of bread crumbs to firm up the meat consistency. Also, I didnt have time to do the crock pot thing so I browned the meatballs in the skillet, then added the sauce and let it simmer for about 30-45 min. and it still turned out soooo yummy. Thank you so much for bringing this recipe back to me!

Triple-Cheese Macaroni

This is a good mac and cheese recipe. It is a little soupy right out of the oven so be sure to let it set for at least 15-20 minutes. I forgot to add the mustard and it still tasted very good but next time I will cut back on the pepper. This recipe is very rich and can taste too much like Velveeta if not eaten nice and hot. It re-heats well and I thought it tasted better the next day then it did the night I made it.
