Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2004
Everyone liked these. Followed the recipe exactly but I guess I made them too big because I only could fit 6 on the cookie sheet. I had a small bowl of the meat mixture left. I will serve the leftover meat on some tortillas with cheese melted. Thanks, will make these again. Michele, Cambridge, Ontario

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2004
Very good!!! Used 1 cup water and 1 cup chicken broth. It would have been too thick with just 1 cup of water as other suggested. Used 1 pkg. of Old El Paso Taco Spice and 1 freshly chopped jalepeno instead of green chili peppers, which I couldn't get. My kids loved it with the a 3 cheese blend on top (mozz+cheddar+montery jack). I put the cheese and the sour cream on mine. YUMMY!! This recipe is very similar to chili. Will make again, thanks. Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2004
Awesome!!! Additive!! Thanks Brian!! Dec/2010 try using 1/2 cup butter, lots of reviews and they cant tell the difference. I used my air popper to do the popcorn. My popper has a little lid on the top for measuring the kernels. I needed about 1 1/2 in the lid to get 10 cups popcorn because I halved the recipe. I also screwed up at the beginning and added the baking soda and vanilla before bringing to a boil instead of after. Should not talk on the phone and cook at the same time!!! After the sauce boiled I decided to add the baking soda again. No problem, still turned out great. I also foiled the cookie sheet and sprayed it with Pam. Baked it for 30 mins. turning twice. It was gone in one night. My husband went into auto-feed and devoured it, I also helped but of course just a little!!! I will make this on a regular basis. Next time I'm going to try and copy Poppycock which has nuts in it, yummy!! Thanks again, Michele, cambridge, ontario update: used 2 bags micro popcorn. Used large roasting pan to mix and bake. sprayed pan with cooking spray. Added pecans!!!!

Maple Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2004
Very good and super easy. I wasn't sure about the maple in the apple crisp but it's really good. I didn't use the expensive maple syrup. My kids prefer the cheaper fake maple syrup. Followed recipe exactly. Definate keeper!!! Thanks, Michele, Cambridge, Ontario

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2004
Used chunks of onion instead of the tin foil. Cooked on high for 6 hours which was maybe 1 hour too much. Good recipe to use if you can't be home and need the chicken cooked when you get home. Was brown and yummy. Thanks, Michele, Cambridge ontario

Crispy Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2004
I used a bag of frozen rhubarb which was 4 cups. I adjusted everything and added a little extra topping as suggested by someone. I used a frozen pie shell (defrosted). For some reason the pie was really wet and the pie shell was kind of mushy. Still had a good taste. Due to it being wet I gave it 4 stars and will probably try something else next time. Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2004
Very yummy. This was my first time trying this type of mushroom. I was a little scared!!! We had BBQ t-bones with these mushrooms and it made the dinner more elegant. I followed the recipe exactly but the mushrooms I had were about 4 inches across. I only had two of them and the mixture covered the two perfectly!! Thanks Michael!!! Michele, cambridge ontario

Banana Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2004
followed the recipe exactly. Turned out about what I expected. I did frost the cake as the recipe said and I'm glad I did. It would have been a little dry without it. Looked pretty when is was done. Always wanting to try something new so I'm not sure if I will make it again. Michele, Cambridge, Ontario

Canadian Barn BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2004
Made this again with the ribs and this time we felt they were a little too sweet. After reading the reviews about how sweat it was I cut back the brown sugar to 1 1/2 cups. Mixed everything together in bowl. Cut up ribs into two's, boiled baby back ribs (3 racks) for about 30 mins. Tossed sauce with the ribs in a roasting pan. Cooked for 1 hour with the lid on at 350 degrees. Took lid off and cooked for another 45 mins. at 325 degrees until carmelized. These were the best ribs I think I have ever had. We all can't wait to have them again. I only use pork baby back ribs because they are leaner. Can't wait to try the sauce on chicken also!! Thanks Wendy for a great sauce!! Update Sept.20/08-Made this again, haven't for a long time and now we find it way too sweet. I have been using Presidents Choice Smokin Stampede Chipotole for the last year and it's the best. I even cut the brown sugar in half again, sooo sweet, sorry not for us. Michele, Cambridge, Ontario Thanks Wendy

Momma OB's Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
It was pretty good but the whole family agreed we prefer beef chili. I just thought I would try something different. Also I was a little confused on the 16oz. can of "chili beans". I thought chili beans were kidney beans. I just added double the kidney beans. Michele, Cambridge Ontario

Spicy Honey Mustard Pork Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2004
I used a lean pork roast which didn't have much fat at all. Came out a little dry. I think a pork butt roast would have been more moist. It was good but we prefer the "Tangy Slow Cooker POrk roast" from this site way better. Thanks Michele, Cambridge Ontario
