Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
This is my go-to banana bread recipe. I love it! I do mash my bananas thoroughly, though, and I also dust the pan and top of the batter with a mix of cinnamon and sugar to give it a tasty crust.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
These cookies are bland, UNLESS you substitute applesauce for the oil as several others have said. If the original recipe called for applesauce and not oil, I would give these a 5.

Silver Dollar Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
These are great! We made big ones-- not silver dollar sized. My husband went nuts for them. They were light, fluffy, and the perfect flavor. Yum!

Spinach and Potato Frittata

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
Mine looked nothing like the picture! I added extra garlic, salt, and pepper, but still found mine to be bland. Also, like comments have said, the egg didn't cook throughout before the bottom burned, so I would suggest starting this in an oven-safe skillet and transferring it to the oven to finish off the egg. My husband loved this, but I thought it was only OK. I put some fresh salsa on a couple bites and that really helped the flavor. My husband loved his with Tabasco sauce on it.

Chili Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I found this dish to be very heavy. If I wanted to eat mashed potatoes, I would rather do it without a tortilla wrapped around them. However, as plain mashed potatoes, they were delicious. I just don't think this makes for a very good burrito. It just made me feel gross after I ate it for dinner. My husband, however, loved them. Too bad for him, because I won't be making this again.

Great Pumpkin Dessert

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
I found this dessert to be very odd. The bottom pumpkin layer was very soft and smooth-- much like pumpkin pie. The top layer was very dry and crumbly. The two layers did NOT go well together. It was just very, very weird. I took it to a party, and only one person had a piece. My husband (who usually loves what I make) only had one bite and couldn't eat any more. I followed the recipe exactly, but it just turned out very strange. Also, it didn't really have any flavor-- it was very bland.

Coconut Sour Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2007
I made this cake for my husband's birthday, and he doesn't like coconut. So, instead of using coconut, I used finely shaved chocolate. It was perfect! I served it at his party and it was definitely a hit. It is a very rich, but very moist. The whipped cream is meant to be an 8 oz. container, not a 16 oz. container, I think. 16 oz. would have been way too much. I will definitely make this cake again! It was really easy, and very aesthetically pleasing.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
I didn't read the reviews earlier, and I wish I had! This was horrible-- way, way, way too much salt. I spent 2 hours making it and when I tasted, I only tasted salt-- nothing else! My husband and I hated it so much, we threw it all away and ordered pizza instead. What a disappointment! It smells and looks great, but the taste makes you gag.

Bavarian Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
Too much time for something not so great. This had a consistency very different from what I am used to with bavarian cream. It was a little too gelatin-y. It didn't have the right thickness and I thought it was pretty difficult to make. My family really liked it, but I won't ever make it again.

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
This sesame chicken was amazing! I absolutely loved it. I want to make it again. The sauce was great-- but I would definitely make more of it. Also, I am going to try it with different vebetables as the green peppers weren't my favorite. But the chicken was fabulous, and I am a very picky chicken eater.

Slow Cook Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2005
Everyone loved this dish, but I for one found it a little too peanut-buttery. It didn't have as much of a Thai flavor as I would have liked. I think it needs more of a punch and more color. On that note, it was a hit with my family.
