Making coq au vin in the middle of a kitchen redecoration several years ago: we were about halfway through stripping the wall paper and there was some loose wall paper behind the cooktop. For some reason, I chose that day to be the first time I didn't skip the "add brandy and ignite" step in my recipe. Didn't really expect the flame to go quite so high.
