Cold Macaroni and Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
My dad used to make this simple recipe every summer and to this day I crave it when the weather starts to warm up. As an adult I have added fresh red peppers, onion and celery just to boost the nutrition a little, but the recipe stands on it's own. The frozen peas add that yummy sweetness.

Buffalo Chicken Wraps

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Good recipe. I make something similar only not as healthy! (fried chicken strips!) I tried this recipe and decided to mix the lettuce and celery in 1 tsp of ranch dressing.(cut in strips not diced) added some thin strips of carrots to the lettuce and let marinate about 1/2 an hour while I made the chicken. My hubby added cheddar cheese to his and also added the blue cheese. While not a healthy addition fat wise, I have to admit his was AWESOME!

Candied Garlic Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I was skeptical because of the long cooking time, but these were SO tender! The sauce was great. I didn't have as much honey as I thought I did, so I had to use 1/2 honey and 1/2 molasses. I also used and would recommend low-sodium soy sauce. It was really good that way. My family raved over these! Thanks so much!

Amish Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I tried this recipe because I had everything on hand and it was really cheap. My husband liked it. I thought it was weird. Maybe with 1/2 the brown sugar and a lot more seasoning it would be better. I don't think I will make it again.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

I have made these several times now, they are delicious! Try drizzling a small amount of honey on them right before you take them off.

Chicago Style Stuffed Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
I was born and raised 20 min. outside of chicago and stuffed pizza is my absolute fav. this recipe is really good. those who are comparing their results to a restaurant aren't really being fair. most chicago restaurants have special ovens. it makes a difference. the only changes i would make is to add red peppers and fresh garlic and basil. The cornmeal is essential to a crisp crust. I get the best results using a cast iron skillet. Thanks for the recipe.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
This is so close to the recipe we have used for 4 generations. We also add 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pickle relish. I frequently use molasses instead of brown sugar, but the original recipe has the brown sugar. This came from a recipe my Great-Grandmother cut out of the Chicago Tribune food section in the early 50's!

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2007
My family loved these. I tossed diced s.potatoes in olive oil, sea salt and cayenne then roasted (and chose not to mash them). I went with black beans since I always have some in the freezer. Next time I might try some canned spicy chili beans instead or in addition too the black beans. I used M.Jack w/Jalepeno cheese instead of the blend. Yummy. Thanks.

Bacon Cheese Treats

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
My guests and family LOVED these. I added garlic powder to the cream cheese and used bacon and sauteed onions as suggested by one reviewer. I also added a little chopped red pepper (I was already using in another recipe) with the onions. Made this way it is a 5 star recipe and I think it would work equally as well as a brunch item or appetizer. Very yummy, would be good with sausage as well. I would suggest making it ahead and letting it chill as a log to make it easier to slice into circles. Very easy to make. Thank you for the recipe and the review that made it better!

Chicken and Rice with Meat

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
I was looking for something to do with chicken breast that would be different and I love allspice, so I tried this. My kids and husband did not like it very much. They said it didn't taste bad it just didn't taste good. Maybe marinating the chicken ahead of time would make it better; it was a little boring. I have never combined chicken and ground beef before, it is a good way to use up small amounts of both. Maybe adding some red peppers could zip it up a little. Thank you for sharing the recipe, it's different.

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
My husband and son loved this. They really liked the gravy. It was pretty easy to make. I am not a mushroom fan so I ate it without the gravy and it was still yummy. The buttery crackers make it really rich and yummy. Good old fashioned, inexpensive, comfort food. Thanks.

Pork and Green Chile Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
This is pretty good. I think it needed a few more spices, but it was tasty as is. I might add some dried chipotle red pepper and cilantro. I liked the instant brown rice it made the recipe a little healthier and faster. I don't think it's a company meal, but it was a nice family dinner. Thanks.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
Love this! It takes a long time but is worth the effort. Very yummy and I was surprised at how tender the chicken breast is by cooking it with this method. I made the buttermilk dumplings suggested in comments. My husband and children raved about this meal. Thank you so much.

Sausage Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
My guests loved these. I thought they were very easy to make. I added a little garlic to the cream cheese. Used the broiler the last 4 minutes as suggested in comments. I had quite a bit of the mixture left... needed more jalapenos! hint: I used disposable aluminum foil broiler pans (3 for 2.oo) made for easy clean up and worked well for these!

I'm giving this 4 stars because there is not enough seasoning for my taste. It's a good basic recipe. With some additions I was able to make this awesome, so thank you for the springboard!!

Sweet Potato Casserole II

These were really delicious. The splash of OJ keeps them from being too sweet. My father-in-law is not a huge fan of sweet potatoes and he loved them. Will continue to use this recipe. Thanks!
