About this Cook
My cooking triumphs
I tried out a recipe from Jacques Pepin's Complete Techniques where you bake a fish in puff pastry. Tastewise, it was great, but the presentation was what made it amazing because the pastry was shaped in the form of a fish, so you were baking a a fish!
My cooking tragedies
I found a recipe for using whiskey and chicken...long story short, we had a kitchen fire :P The chicken essentially ignited in an unintended flambee. Never doing that recipe again :P Also, you know how mandolin slicers have hand guards? They're there for a reason. I got lazy once with some onions and it turned into a bloody ordeal. So remember folks, safety first!

Vegetarian Phad Thai
I have used this recipe for about 5 years now. The only thing I've added recently was a dash of fish sauce to give it a bit more of an authentic Thai flavor. Other than that, I've used the recipe as-is and it is still one of the most demanded dishes in the house. Even my usually "meat-and-potatoes" in-laws ask for it!

Spicy Oven-Roasted Plums
Awesome. Perfect as a summer treat. I added some toasted almonds and topped this with ice cream.

Simple Cranberry Spinach Salad
Great recipe. Simple, yet flavorful. I use a similar version where I add dates (pitted) and croutons. It was a hit at Christmas!
