About this Cook
I'm a 28 year old wife and new Mom.. I enjoy cooking, but I'm not very good at it.. I can follow a recipe, but I'm not all that creative.. I'm hoping to get better..
My favorite things to cook
Anything Quick, Easy and Healthy.. Hubby and I (well mostly him) have created a few recipes that we like to make together..
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom was a "Shake and Bake Mom" but always made a mean Thanksgiving dinner. My Dad makes the best grilled steaks this side of the Mississippi.. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Any time I try a new recipe and my husband says "MMMMMMMM!"
My cooking tragedies
Too many to name.. The most recent being a crockpot turkey breast with canned cranberry sauce and onion soup mix.. GROSS!

Absolutely Best Brownies
Wonderful!! I was looking for a recipe to use up some self-rising flour, and to use flax meal as an egg substitute. I used a little less sugar (3/4C) and replaced one of the eggs with flax meal/water. The batter was tasty, and I had to cut into them as soon as they were cooled enough. They are so good!! A great quick and easy brownie recipe!

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins
Pretty good muffin! Made a few changes based on personal preference. Used 1/2c Whole Wheat Flour for some of the AP, Used 1/4c Brown Sugar for some of the white, and unsweetened applesauce for the oil. Only needed 1 big apple as well. I skipped the topping, because I like to freeze and reheat these for my preschooler's breakfast. Made 12 regular sized muffins filled 2/3 full. Came out perfect (and tasty!) after 20 mins. Will make these again!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread
My first real attempt at homemade bread and it was very good! I subbed sugar for the first 1/3 cup of honey since I didn't have enough. I split into 2 big loaves instead of 3 smaller ones. Bread came out pretty dense, but I like it that way. Perfect for French Toast tomorrow morning! :-)
