I'm an aspiring comic artist, learning to eat right. I spend too much time at work (or drawing), so it's hard to find time to make food. Between work and art, I like to knit, play video games, and ride my bike. I live with my two cats, one who will eat just about anything.
My favorite things to cook
When I'm in the mood to cook, I like to cook new and fancy dishes. I enjoy cooking for others most of all (it gives me more of a reason to cook, I guess). Italian baked dishes are always fun. I also tried crepes once. They were good, but I have a ways to go before I can make them the right thickness.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is by no means Italian, but that's what I grew up eating. Manicotti, lasagna, tortellini, spaghetti... I love the stuff.
We also refer to my dad as "Iron Chef Leftovers." While his creations are not always a triumph, they are still his specialty.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I had a loaf of bread turn out right was a great day for me. It was a honey wheat bread. My first loaf (basic white) was hard as a rock, mostly because I think I mis-measured the flour. My second (brioche) was good at first, but became dry too fast.
My cooking tragedies
In an attempt to be original and useful, I attempted to add some flavor to a basic spaghetti sauce. My roomie had bought some chicken the other day, so I decided to chop the leftovers up and add it to the sauce. Little did I realize it was LEMON chicken. While the sauce wasn't good, it wasn't really bad either. Just... strange...
