Smothered Filet Mignon

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
Awesome recipe!!! We made it for Valentine's Day dinner and I've been craving it ever since! I have had this every other night since then! Yummy! Instead of filet, we used NY steaks from Costco...

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Fantastic!! Made them tonight for tomorrow's feast, and tasted one tonight, just in case. These are better than any store-bought rolls I've ever had. Thanks so much for the recipe!!!!

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
I was so excited to make this recipe...however, I made it for dinner tonight and I feel sick to my stomach...the egg mixture --- it's a bit too much. It's rich, but not in a good way...I would not recommend this recipe.

This recipe was flavorless. It had a lot of oil in it as well. I would not recommend this recipe.

Jacky's Fruit and Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
I love blueberry muffins - however, these were not very tasty. The consistency was more chewy/dry, than fluffy/moist. I would stick with "To die for blueberry muffins" on this site -- although it has 1/3 more calories/fat, I would rather have 1/2 of one of those muffins, than a dozen of these muffins.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
Without a bread machine, it's a bit difficult to make this recipe. After my first batch failed to rise, I learned these lessons: 1) warm cold milk to 100 degrees, by microwaving it for 1 minute on high, then dissolve the yeast (I used 1 packet of Fleishmans Rapid Rise yeast - the kind that comes in a 3 pack attached to each other from Wal-Mart), 2) I used all-purpose Gold Medal flour after reading that bread flour made these rolls tough, 3) definitely heat the oven to 200 degrees, then turn it off and place your bowl of dough in there to rise (I have a gas oven, but placing it in the oven with the pilot on was not enough heat for the dough to rise -- by the way, the dough increases in size about a 1.5x its size (not double) 4) use a lot of flour when rolling out the dough - flour the counter, pin, and hands, otherwise, it'll be impossible to roll into a pinwheel, 5) you don't need to let it rise again after rolling, filling and cutting the dough, 6) If you want creamy white frosting, don't add vanilla extract -- my turned out a golden yellow frosting (not as appetizing). Once I got all these steps right, they came out wonderfully! About 12 small - medium size rolls.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
After so many great reviews, I thought nothing could go wrong with this recipe. As I sit here trying my first home-baked brownie, it makes me yearn for the box-brownies. There is nothing 'special' or out of the ordinary with these brownies.

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
I used 1 extra large russet potato (the kind from Costco) for half the recipe. I also used 1/2 red onion. This was very delicious with ketchup and tabasco on the side!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
I was very excited about making these pancakes. However, I just made them, and reluctantly, eating them right now...they're not that great. They are dry and flavorless, even with the addition of vanilla and subtraction of some of the salt, as others suggested. I think I'll stick with Krusteaz brand one-step pancake mix...they are so much better.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
This recipe was great! I really like the homemade gravy sauce much more than the canned cream of chicken soup. To make quick homemade broth, I used Knorr's chicken bullion powder: 2 tsp for the 1 and 3/4 cup of water. I boiled it for a couple minutes, and voila, I had my broth. Quick and easy. I also used 4 tbsp of margarine instead of the butter. I used 3/4 cup of chopped onion for more flavor, and cooked the veggies & chicken with garlic powder instead of celery seed. Overall, the recipe is fantastic and is the best chicken pot pie I've ever had. Thanks for the recipe!! : )

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2007
This was an excellent recipe! I used a can of artichokes from Trader Joe's and used Best Food's Mayo. I did squeeze out excess juices from the artichokes. I also used lots of garlic powder and black pepper in the mixture. I sliced up 2 small italian squash into circles and lined a glass casserole dish. I chopped up 1 more squash into small squares and sprinkled them on top of the mayo mixture after I layered it on the chicken. I increased the cooking time by an extra 10 minutes, then turned off the oven, and let it sit for another 15 minutes to allow the squash to brown. Once it was done, I sprinkled crushed red pepper on top for color. It was beautiful, tasty and absolutely easy to make. I would recommend this for everyone. After searching high and low for the perfect side dish to go with recipe, I decided on a green salad made with romaine hearts, tomatoes and topped with dressing. Very filling and yummy!

Frogmore Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
This is the best recipe I have tried out thus far on allrecipes.com. The seafood and sausage and potatoes and corn...fantastic dish! It would cost a fortune to order this at our local restaurant...I believe it is $59 per person for this bucket feast. I absolutely loved this recipe and it is very versatile...I added more crab and shrimp to this dish. I also didn't have Old Bay, so I substituted it with 1/3 cup of a mix of seasonings I had on hand: garlic powder, black pepper, salt, taco seasoning, creole seasoning, chili powder, and also 1 bay leaf...came out fantastic. I would recommend this to all seafood lovers.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
The flavor was excellent...I did add more red pepper as everyone suggested. However, the sauce was not really a sauce at all...it was congealed and very thick and clumpy...what did I do wrong? I followed the exact instructions on the recipe.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

I was very excited about the simple ingredients and great reviews. After making it, the dish was okay. It was good, but wasn't great. I probably wouldn't make it again. I think it needs more veggies.

Gary's Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
I chose this recipe after reading all the great reviews for it. However, I have to say that this is the first recipe that has disapointed me on this website. The stuffing was rather flavorless, and the mushrooms were not cooked enough. They are definitely missing something and I would not make them again.
