North Italian Meat Sauce (Ragu Bolognese)

I used the chicken livers and thought it gave an extra depth. When the sauce was simmering it looked like it could use a little more liquid so I threw in some red wine. I thought it made it even more delicious. I also wanted it a little thicker so I also added a little cornstarch. Finished product is yummy. If the cream is too fattening/heavy for you, it's tasty even without it.

Brandied Bananas

So yummy! I used a little more butter, bourbon instead of brandy (that's what I had) and no nuts. So yummy! Next time I will try with nuts!

Best Ever Split Pea

Very good! I didn't have leaks (used a little celery) or bay leaves, but was still very good. Could have lost the rosemary. I only used three strips of bacon, but still very tasty... though I'm sure even better with 6. I also used some yellow split peas too.

Fabulous Fried Cabbage

This was great! Though... I don't think of it as fried. Used the broth, with a soy/dairy-free margarine and a little butter flavoring. Tasted good, took more like 20-30 minutes, though I only used about 1/2 a head of cabbage. Next time I might use a little less liquid, though I think it would taste good over rice. Will add carrots/onions next time and maybe try other variations.

Carrot, Potato, and Cabbage Soup

I am not partial to thyme and there was far too much in this recipe (even at 1/4 tsp). Next "thyme" (ha! get it?) I will know to use less. I decided to crock pot this and it turned out well! 4 hours on high was perfect. I also didn't blend it. Could use a tad more salt. Will try the recipe again only modifying the spices a bit... maybe more basil?

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

This is pretty amazing and does well with variation. I used a Trader Joe's bag of broccoli and cauliflower so all I had to do was stick that in the microwave to steam it. I am not a big cashew person so I left them out and it was still delicious. I also didn't have white vinegar... just apple cider vinegar and it was still yummy. You could probably use lots of different vegetables with it too.
