Korean-style Seaweed Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
great recipe - just like mom used to make! i suggest a little splash of fish sauce (you can get this at any asian market - even wegmans) for more depth of flavor.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2007
this recipe was a cinch! i would use 2 tbsp of the ranch mix, 3 seemed a little too salty for my taste. i added chopped ham and matchstick carrots in here - it was yummy - would def make again!

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2007
this recipe was super easy to make...i used cream of mushroom instead, which i believe has more salt content than that mushroom soup. so i would recommend not seasoning the chops beforehand - ours came out a bit on the salty side but otherwise, it was delicious. we had it with a simple tomato salad (tomatoes, olives, vidalia onions, zesty italian dressing) and some flaky dinner croissants. i would definitely make this again!

Coconut Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2006
not a baking person but when my fiance was craving some oatmeal cookies, i found this one. kind of messed up the sugar measurement so added more flour. it came out awesome anyways! i used semi sweet chocolate chips. i love the coconut flakes-nice touch. fiance absolutely loved them. so good right out of the oven with some ice cold milk! will definitely make again.

Simple Lemon Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
this recipe really was simple! i added some garlic to it to give it a kick and used dried basil, which is what i had on hand. i definitely recommend a side dish with more depth of flavor, like a risotto or garlic mash with butter to offset the slight bitter flavor of the chicken. going to try this with fish/shrimp next time!

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2006
omg these wings were SOOOO good! i took someone's advice and used only 1/4 cup vinegar and used fresh garlic instead. make sure u watch the sauce cuz it tends to burn easily but other than that-mm mm mm...i will DEFINITELY make these bad boys again!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2006
the fish came out nice and moist. i expected the parmesan topping to come out a bit crispier but i figured it didn't because i baked it, not broil it. the mixture was great though. i think it would go well with chix or pork, too. would use again-but broil it, not bake.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2006
this recipe was awesome. it was quick and easy and my fiance and i loved it. i used italian bread crumbs instead and used more garlic-we love lots of garlic! i also threw in some cayenne pepper in there for a little spice. i also used the thinly pre-sliced chicken breasts so they took no time at all to bake-about 18-20 min or so. i served them with a mushroom and peas side dish sauteed in white wine. it was a great dinner!

Birthday Bones

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2006
i'm not a baker but i ran into this very simple recipe and i figured i would give it a shot. i have 2 beagles who pretty much eat anything but this is a great alternative to the store bought treats, who knows what's in those. i just used a small wine glass to cut out circles. they loved them!!

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2006
ok, use like 1/4 of the salt asked and forget about the boullion mixture completely. i think i'll make my good ol' japanese style pan-koh bread crumb chops instead...

Sweet and Sour Meatballs I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2006
my meatballs came out great but the sauce was just ok-i used a sweet and spicy chili sauce i already had on hand-so with the sweetness of the jelly, it was just way too sweet. my fiance liked it though! and plus because i used this particular kind of chili sauce, the sauce overall was much too greasy. i say just go with the exact recipe and don't tweak it much.

Killer Shrimp Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2006
this soup was awesome! and it wasn't difficult to make, just a bit time consuming. it was definitely worth the 3 hour wait though. i actually used margarine and half of what the recipe called for. it still came out wonderful. definitely, get the bread for sopping up all that yummy juice! goes great with a salad and a glass of chilled white wine.
