BBQ Glazed Homemade Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
I love that these meatballs are baked! It's easier and less messy. I only used about 1/4 c. of brown sugar in the sauce, about 1 tsp. of liquid smoke flavoring in the sauce, and only about 1 tsp. of chile powder in the meatball mixture. Thank you Teresa!

Cream of Celery Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2007
A delicious and easy recipe! I sauteed the veggies in the butter, added the flour and salt (I also added pepper and about a clove of minced garlic) to create roux. I slowly added the milk and then added this mixture to the stock. This is a great recipe...much better than canned soup! I didn't even bother to strain it! Thanks for the post!

Tuna Noodle Casserole III

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2007
I'm usually not a big casserole fan, but this was really good. I used homemade cream of celery soup. I added the tuna to the soup, then ladled over the hot noodles. I followed that with some American cheese, another layer of noodles and soup, then topped with shredded sharp cheddar, bread crumbs and sprinkled on some paprika for color. Thank you Marie!

Peanut Butter Heaven

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
Oh my goodness! These were fantastic! Chewy, moist, peanut buttery, chocolaty! I added a tsp. of vanilla, used crunchy peanut butter, and 1 tbsp. of butter to the topping to make it easier to cut after refrigerating...but there was no need to...these went too fast to chill in the fridge! If you like PB, chocolate and oatmeal, you will love this one, and if you don't, I'll eat it for you! Thanks Sara!

Day Before Pay Day Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
Easy, cheap & satisfying! I used pork rather than chicken, cooked the egg in butter rather than oil for extra flavor, and added about 1 1/2 tsp. five spice. Very good! Thank you CJ!

Teary-Eyed Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
Based upon the reviews, I doubled the amount of cayenne and black pepper to the flour mixture. I also seasoned the chops with salt and pepper prior to dredging them in flour. They were spicy and juicy...buffalo wing flavor with a twist! I might try using bread crumbs and baking these next time to reduce fat and calories, and then dunk them in the hot sauce. Thanks for the post!

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
Nice wings! I was looking for a wing recipe that didn't include frying and this caught my eye! I didn't have molasses and used Five Spice instead of the ginger. I added extra garlic and marinated the wings for about 24 hours. Like Linda, I wanted to crisp them up a bit, but did that at the end of baking and turned on the broiler, turning them after about 5 minutes. Following ADLEVINE's suggestion, I sprinkled with sesame seeds. Yum! Thanks Christenet!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 15, 2007
I was having a craving for a good cookie and these were yummy! I used 1 c. of salted butter (no shortening on hand) so I didn't add any additional salt, plus added about 1 1/2 tsp. of vanilla. I took the rest to work with me to share and everyone loved them. Thanks Michele! Fabulous!

Jen's Heavenly Egg Salad

Reviewed: May 12, 2007
This was really good...a perfect lunch for a warm spring day! I added 2 baby dills, diced & about 1/2 tsp. dried dill. The lemon juice gave it a nice crisp flavor and I liked that there wasn't too much mayo. Thanks Jen!

Shrimp and Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: May 8, 2007
This was great! I added used brown sugar instead of regular sugar, and added about 1 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes and 2 cloves of garlic to the sauce, which I heated over low heat until the peanut butter melted. Instead of broccoli, I added shredded cabbage, shredded carrots and green onion. I also used extra chunky peanut butter, which added a nice crunch. I used pork instead of shrimp, as I already had some ready for use. Thanks so much for the post! I'll be making ths one often.

Tangy Turkey and Swiss Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 7, 2007
These are really good. I cut the amount of thyme in half, and I'm glad I did because I think that otherwise, the flavor would have been too strong. Next time, I think I'll try rubbing roasted garlic on the toasted bread. Thanks Annie!

Lo Mein Noodles

Reviewed: May 6, 2007
This is a great basic recipe. I marinated some pork in Char Siu and diced it up. I used celery instead of peas because I like a little crunch and added garlic. I only used 6 oz. of Chinese stir fry noodles, as I wanted more of a veggie dish than a pasta dish. Very tasty, Kay. Thank you for the post!

Chinese Almond Cookies

Reviewed: May 4, 2007
These were really good. They had a wonderful flavor and texture and looked beautiful. Next time I will probably double the amount of almond extract and maybe add some ground almonds to the dough. Yummy, Jane! Thanks!

Cindi's Egg Rolls

Reviewed: May 4, 2007
I made these for an office luncheon and everyone loved them (including me!). I used minced celery instead of bell pepper, and like cookinme, I used bagged cole slaw. I didn't have molasses so substituted brown sugar and added Chinese Five Spice in lieu of the ginger. Great recipe. Thanks Cindi!

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Yummy! I used the recipe for Grilled Asian Chicken to prepare the chicken. To this recipe, I added some green peas and broccoli. It was delish and I'm glad that I doubled the recipe. Thanks Lisa!

This is the best Asian-style chicken I have ever tasted! I used brown sugar instead of honey and added Chinese five spice. I used this in Chicken Fried Rice II and it was the best! Thanks Janet!

Creamy Lime Sherbet

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2007
This was truly fantastic, though I screwed up the recipe by adding 12 oz. of limeade concentrate rather than only 6 oz. After I realized what I'd done, I added about 1 c. more of cream and 1 1/2 c. of milk as well as an additional 1/3 c. of sugar. It was fabulous anyways. It was creamy, but not heavy and very refreshing. Thank you Mary Beth!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2007
This satisfied my craving for some good chili. I used canned diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce and added fresh garlic rather than garlic powder. I doubled the amount of cayenne for extra kick and next time I will add some diced jalapenos, though the recipe has plenty of spice without it. Thanks George!

This soup hit the spot! I used homemade chicken broth to which I added poultry seasoning and quite a bit of parsley. Very good and very easy. Thank you Vincenza!
