Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
I had a craving for French toast this morning, and this hit the spot. I increased the egg batter somewhat because I used thick-sliced French bread. I like French toast recipes that use flour in the batter because I think it makes the crust a little crispier. Thank you, Bonnie!

Very good & very easy! I might sprinkle toasted chopped peanuts on this next time. Thank you, Nancy!

Buffalo Chicken Wings III

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
These were delicious! I hate frying so I loved that these were baked. As many others had suggested, I baked mine longer, about 50 minutes, before dipping them into the sauce. I doubled the amount of hot sauce (Frank's) and these were gobbled up at the New Year's Eve party I took them to. Thank you, Walt!

Penne a la Vodka I

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
This was very good and very rich. The flavor was excellent. Next time, I'll saute the bacon separately so that it will crisp up. Thank you, Matt and Dave!

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
Very good & very easy! And very RICH! I like that you don't have to make a white sauce for this recipe, it makes it much easier. I omitted the butter (not that that saved many calories in the scheme of things)and added an extra clove of garlic. Thank you, Karla!

Spring Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
These are delicious! The orange rind really adds so much wonderful flavor, so don't omit it. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used pecans instead of pistachios, and didn't add quite as much as the recipe called for. Great recipe, very easy to make even for someone like me (a non-baker), and plus this is the first time I made biscotti. Thank you Elizabeth!

Chewy Brownie Cookies

Wow! These were scrumptious! Like others, I used butter instead of shortening. These cookies were chocolatey & chewy. Thank you Jonie!

Creamy Peanut Butter Fudge

These were really good. I'm not terribly talented when it comes to candy recipes, but this recipe worked for me, and that says a lot! Thank you, Janet!

Microwave Pralines

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
These were fantastic! I really am impressed with how easy these were to make. I made these for a bake sale so I doubled the recipe, so had to make some adjustments in the cooking time (or maybe it's my microwave) but these were delicious! Thank you, Mary!

Basic Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
These were delicious! Time-consuming, but incredibly good! After coating them in the melted chocolate, I rolled some in toasted coconut, some in pecans & powdered sugar. The powdered sugar was absorbed by the chocolate, though, so I wouldn't recommend that. Thank you Gina!

Hasselback Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
I thought that these were excellent. I love potatoes but usually don't care for baked potatoes all that much. And I think that they were very simple and quick to prepare, aside from the baking time, but that is to be expected with any type of baked potato. I was generous with brushing on the melted butter, since I didn't have Romano cheese, and sprinkled the potatoes with a little dill along with the salt and pepper. Even the leftovers were divine! Thank you, POMPIER850!

Cube Steak Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2007
This was easy, good and comforting, not to mention inexpensive. I used fresh potatoes and frozen peas and carrots, added about 1/2 c. of tomato paste, a little balsamic vinegar, some fresh minced garlic (which I added with the beef and onions) and a little cayenne. I also increased the liquid, about 2 c. of broth and 2 c. of water. Thank you Joyce!

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I really loved the flavor of this recipe! I have never used eggs in my dressing and have always been curious as to the texture. I think that I prefer my dressing without eggs, but this is an excellent recipe and I have to give it 5 stars because although the texture isn't what I would have liked it to be, that's an issue of personal preference. Thank you Amy! Very yummy!

Broiled Herb Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This was really wonderful! I used it on a whole chicken that I roasted. I placed some of the butter under the skin of the chicken breasts and spread the rest on the exterior of the chicken. It turned out very flavorful and juicy, and the garlic flavor was delicious, mellow and sweet. Thank you for the recipe, Heather!

Baklava

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
This was my first attempt at making baklava and it the result was absolutely divine! It wasn't nearly as time-consuming as I thought it might be. I took the advice of others and made the sauce ahead of time, so that it would have time to cool. I'll be making this to take to my sister's for Thanksgiving now! Thanks Donna! This is an excellent recipe!

Smoky Potato Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
This is SOOOOO good! Perfect for the fall weather. I took PrincessApril's advice and sauteed the sausage prior to adding the broth. Like others, I added a few seasonings (cayenne & garlic), for my taste, as well as celery. Absolutely fabulous! Thank you Karin!

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
This was really good. I took the advice of others and reduced the sugare to about 1/4 of a cup. I think that it would have been way too sweet for my tastes if I had used the full 3/4 of a cup that the recipe calls for. I used chopped dill pickle in place of the relish. In my book, a five star recipe with the sugar reduction! Thank you Connie!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
These are CREAMY! And delicious, I must add. I took PMCKAY1717's advice and sauteed the onions, which I had diced, to tenderize them and mellow their flavor a bit. Next time, I may cut back on the flour, just a bit. Thank you Cathy!
